My contract ends the 10th of this month. I no longer want to pay the $33 w/ tax for the data service from tmobile.

My question is, can I call on this day and tell them I want to make it a prepaid sidekick? Would I need a new sim card?

If that works, say my sidekick is turned off for one day, will I still be charged the $1?

thanks for any help/advice in advance.

you will most likely need a prepaid sim card. IDK if cust care can change a postpaid sim to prepaid. Did u try a tmo store?

According to www.hiptop.com, I don't think that you would need a prepaid SIM. Under their FAQs, they explain how you can go from prepaid to postpaid as well as from postpaid to prepaid.

Thanks for that link.
You think I'll still be able to keep my current number since I canceled today?
