Is anyone else having problems w/ 3120?

I had a thread about a month ago about how my brother's 3120 had a bad screen (and we didn't know if it was because of a defect, or because he dropped it). Anyways, we XBMed it 3 times, and each replacement seems to keep having the same problem with losing a signal, if it gets a signal at all. If it does get a signal, he will be on a call with a perfect signal, and it will drop to zero and he will lose the call. Well, it's happening again, and I am on the phone with XBM right now to get a fourth replacement. This seems really odd that he didn't have these problems with his original phone, and now he can hardly use it. It's not the SIM, because he was borrowing my e317 for a while without any problems.

I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this problem??

i know you said its not a sim problem, but is he using a 3G sim?

Hey Mac, I have two of these phones and have not had any of the issues you described. I don't use mine very often, but my wife uses hers daily and has had no complaints about dropped calls.

The only time she has any problems is inside some buildings. The calls will sometimes garble or drop. This is due to our area having 1900mhz coverage though, and occurs even with my nokia 6010.

He has a 32k SIM...

Cingular wants to "trouble shoot" the phone, but we are gonna have to wait until I see my brother next. The guy said they may offer him a comparable model... I don't know how well that will go with my brother... He really likes his 3120.

I once had a faulty nextel sim that caused my i95 to do the same thing... just something to keep in mind.

I would bet money it's not the SIM, since my brother used my e317 for several days without any problems, and this problem did not occur with his original 3120. This is killing me that 3 replacements have had the same problem.... Unless the 3120 is just sensitive to one slight problem to a SIM, and the e317 isn't....?

Mac, put your SIM in the 3120 and see if the problem still persists. If it performs poorly with two different SIM's it's likely a phone problem. That will give you more leverage for another XBM.

I haven't done it with the current phone, but with the previous 2 phones, my SIM produced the same results.
