hi guys, i have a question about a v802, its my friend's he got it in in hk and can text back and forth, but since comign back to canada (he's on fido) he can only send msgs and cannot receive. i have crossed checked all his settings with those on my 903 and they seem all right... anybody know what's going on???

Before my 802sh decided to turn itself off and never turn on again (or at least past the vodafone splash page (grrr)) I was able to send/receive text messages without a problem. I was also on the Fido network as well, so this really should work.

I've heard that there can be some issues with the 802sh and older sim cards. Try swapping sim's with him and test sending a message. Also tell him to make sure to keep his phone charged at all times (ie dont let the battery run out 100%). On some of the flashed 802's there can be issues with it messin' up once the charge runs out, (and like mine) it will not start up again.

i've had a client who had a similar problem. all she did was go to fido and bought a new sim card.. and boom it worked. but... it might be a firmware issue too. a bad unlock. but try the sim card method first.

yeah.. I spoke with her already. My issue is different, it's a auto off cycle that happens any time you attempt to turn on the phone. The cause is when a flash is done improperly (or "rushed"). The phone use to work just fine until the charge ran out.... apparently the flash damaged some form of memory on the phone. It can sometimes be fixed, but there are no garantee's. Either way, i'm not too impress with those guys from pmall.

hrmm.. thats horrible. yah. there's alot of shotty flashers out there using inferior tools to flash ppl's phones ending up causing alot of damage for customers. i'd do it for you but i don't know if you wanna send it across the country.
