I launched MPT and it updated itself to 4.0.4b. Then I backed up contacts from a V3 and an E398 with no problems. My ultimate goal was to transfer the E398 contacts to the V3. When I connected the V3 to do the restore, MPT did not give me the option to restore the E398 backup.

In Explorer I opened the folders containing each phone's backup files. With the V3 connected, the E398 folder was empty, and vice versa. With both folders open in Explorer I watched while I connected each phone and launched MPT. When I connected the RAZR, the E398 files just disappeared, as if their invisible file attribute had been suddenly enabled, and when I connected the E398, the V3 files disappeared. I tried to trick it by connecting the V3 and launching the E398 MPT profile, but MPT didn't recognize the phone.

So how do I transfer the contacts from one phone to the other? Is there different software I can use?

Ihad the same problems 2 weeks ago when I got my L7. The only way I was able to do copy my phonebook from my V3 to my SLVR was to sync all the contacts with MPT and Outlook. Then you can sync either phone. I know its a hassle but its better than entering them in one by one.
