I can't believe a charging base didn't come with my 903SH... First Japanese phone I have bought that didn't....

Anyone know of a way I can get one in Canada? I will order from Vodafone shop, but they won't ship to Canada and I don't want to wait until I am in Japan next.

Where did you buy your 903SH from?
If you buy it from the shop, it should be in there...
The desktop charger is one of the accessories included in the package...
You should've check it before you go...

You might be able to find it at ebay...

Gotcha!

Thanks MoDist - that is perfect. $30 is steep when Vodafone sells it for 1200 yen, but hey - free market! Do you know if you have it in stock in the Toronto/Markham location?

Also - Dav34 - thanks for confirming ths, I guess I must have lost it - as I bought it from Vodafone Japan in the original packaging.

wait wait wait ... the desktop charger is included in the package ?! it wasn't included in my box ?!?!?!

I just checked the Vodafone website - it is not included - which is really surprising.

Mind you - also comforting since it sucks to think that i lost it.

in 902 (Japan) package there's a desktop charger.

Right, it was included in the Japanese ONLY 902sh, but not in the Euro version.
For the 903, it was not included in any release i believe, but i could be wrong.

hmm the 903sh doesnot come with the desktop charger. u can get it in HK. I asked a shop before. It's around 400 HKD ><" which is kind of expensive I think.

Posted by: dav34

Sorry, ma bad...
Yeah, it doesn't come with the package...
Usually, all Japanese phones have it... it might be the first one without it... that sucks...

The stereo handsfree also seems different from 902SH, you can't put any 3.5mm earphone to replace the original one...

I think they're trying to cut cost to keep the price low... or make additional profit...

Is it really 1200 yen at Vodafone shop in Japan? It would help before I haul myself over to one....

Posted by: skywalker

I just rechecked, and actually it is 1365 yen, but they only ship online within Japan. It is listed in Others on this pdf of options:

The desktop charger is barely worth its list price, from a materials point of view. It's just a hunk of plastic with two wires in it. There's no circuitry, no included AC adapter, no nothing. It is a pretty cool little thing to have though. Some guy was selling the 902 version on eBay for $10 not too long ago, so the 903 version might pop up sometime soon.

I've gotta disagree. 1300 Yen is a reasonable price - assuming it works as well as the other Japanese phone bases. The fact that it is a hunk of plastic with passthrough is irrelevant. You can drop your phone on it to charge, and it will hold your phone perfectly and securely.

I would say this is a mandatory accessory - this and the Music LCD dongle (for anyone that uses music on their Sharp phones)...

I think what he's trying to say was that the cost to make the desktop charger is very cheap, and they're charging double or even triple. From my observation and as Riverman said, it's only made from a plastic and wires. There's no chip or anything like that. It's just transfering the electricity from the charger pins to the 2 leads besides the charger plug on your phone.

yeah that's what i thought. my v903 didn't come w/ a desktop charger and it didn't come w/ a 3.5 mm headphone adapter either(just regular stereo headphones).

Yah.. they kind of scamped on teh accessories this round. But it really depends if users really find the desktop chargers useful.. the car adapters useful and such, you can't compare the prices between japan and canada. you aren't including shipping. everything shipped from japan goes by weight and size of the package, and its not cheap to go EMS. If you had a way of getting it, thats great. but if you don't you have the options that you have.

...I picked up the desktop charger the other day from Bic Camera. Since my gf had some points on her Bic card, the total price was around 350 yen. Not too bad (original price 1360 or so). Incidentally, the charger itself is pretty nice. The phone just pops on and has a pass-through filter for the flasher on the back.

does this charger run on batteries or connected through an electric plug??? cuz i thought u could use it when u travel or something

Posted by: Riverman

Your phone's existing charger/AC adapter plugs into the bottom of the desktop charger. When you're traveling it's more convenient to just take the standard charger, but I have desktop chargers at home and at work. The one at work is plugged into the back of my computer with a USB data cable, and the one at home uses the original AC adapter.

yeah we definitely got shammed... no desktop charger, have to buy our own 3.5 mm headphone dongle, no car charger, what is this man???

haha.. they know how to make money.. what can we do... we love their shizzit... pay a premium for it to.
