Some general E815 how to do it questions

I just got the E815, and it's a great phone, lacking just a few items like an alphanumeric 'notepad' and an 'ettiquite' (silent) mode at the touch of a button, but the reception is great (even works in metal stores like Walmart), sound quality is better than my home cordless phones. I am not ready to hack the phone yet, maybe not ever, but am unable to do a few things, just wondering if they're possible.

512mb Transflash card with plenty of memory, still get 3 minute limit on recording video, with transflash selected as the device. Is this a hardware limitation or am I missing something?

Does anyone know if there is a shortcut to get the flash to come on other than going thru the menus? Would be great to have a flashlight button.

Also, on the Transflash card reader on my PC I dragged folders of mp3s by album to the root directory, but they all show up in one list on the phone, does this support folder/directories? I did not format the card on my phone (wondering if I need to), but I have created a playlist from my mp3s, so that's kind of a workaround.

Has anyone tried to watch video downloaded on a PC on the phone? I know it supports 3g(something), 3g2, and mp4, but does anyone know if there's a pixel, size, or other limit to the files? Anyone know of any good cheap (free?) converters to convert divx or mpg, or is it not worth the effort?

I'm waiting to receive a 2.5mm to 3.5mm 4pin stereo cable for the mp3 player, it works great for a phone. Listened for 3+ hours and did not seem to use any bars of battery life!

Thanks for any replies!

I just got my phone yesterday and it's still in it's "24 hour charge time" All that I can tell you is that you do need to format it in the phone. I cannot answer any of your other questions yet though.

Yes, you need to put the card in your phone to have it put the filesystem in it. MP3's go in the Motorola/shared/musicorsomething section.

3:00 is the limit for video w/card.

Look in the VZW Moto thread for the video help.

Thanks for the info. I did get mp3 folders working thanks to Shirizaki's suggestion, but with some problems- I've read that file name length can be a problem, but also seemed to find that folder name length + file name length can make mp3s not show up- does anyone know what the specifics of this are? I shortened all my folder & file names and most of them show up now, but what are the limits?
