Hey guys. I have a Cingular Blue V180. I found it somewhere some months ago. I decided to have it unlocked so I could use it with a foreign sim so I could use it while I travel overseas. For some reason, the phone never gets service, even with different sim cards in it. i know its not my sim because my sim gets service in any other gsm phone. Is there any way I can fix this? Please let me know. Thanks!

v180 is quadband, have u tried changing the frequency band in the network setup menu? it mite be set to european frequencies, set it to 850/1900 or auto and see what happens

Ive tried that- on automatic and even on 850/1900. I should be operating on the GSM 900/1800- that is what the overseas sim booklet says. It is an asian sim- for use in the Philippines. It works in other phones- I even tried to see if it would get service in a Iden phone- it did (but,of course, you couldnt make calls due to different networks). Anyway, is there like something I could do with the software of the phone?
It seems like the phone says "searching for network" but it seems like it can never find the network. It dosnt even make that noise when you place it next to speakers or the such.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

have u tried a domestic sim card in it like perhaps a cingular or t-mobile sim to see if it picks up signal, also where ru located? if ur located in continental north america, you do not want to set it to european/asian frequencies because the SIM is asian, the frequency is based on where you located not what sim you put in, it could be possible the international sim you have has no roaming agreements with your local carriers thus its not picking up signal too, try that first, otherwise you may have to send the phone to motorola for service.
