v3 battery dying quickly

My v3 battery is dying very qucikly for some reason I tried taking the battery out for 5 mins then letting the phone die then recharge fully nothin also when my phone is on the charger bar is red but when I turn my phone off the bars change to one bar charging then as charge increases the meter goes up any help and do I need a new battery or what

did you ever leave your phone on charging overnight?? Your phone charges faster when it is off.

yea i did dat last night turned it off and left it charging i think that might have worked
