Loading games/apps on to v710

I am sure this one has been done too death but the "search" doesn't work too well so here I go. I've got a telus v710 and the required usb cable and motorola usb driver installed on my computer.
On my phone in the menu under applications, I have a submenu called " Games and Apps".
Within each of those submenus I have an option "Get new".(I take it this is the Java Loader)

The question is:

1) Do I need the "midway" application or will a program such as MobilEdit or MPT to transfer games and apps over to my phone?
2)Is it as easy as "drap and drop" to the phone?
3) Can I load the apps and games on to a transflash card and run it from the card?

I'd rather NOT do any seem edits/hacks as I've only had the phone for a few weeks and hate to end up with a messed up phone. Thanks for help.
