I personally prefer Verichat for AIM www.pdaapps.com

There are other choices as well, IM+, Toccer etc.

I am using Toccer, and it is free and works pretty well.

I just put Toccer onto my 600 and it works well. Another question is... do i get charged text messages fees or is it through my data service?

it's through your data service...I have Toccer too and it's pretty good for a free program...
