im in the market for a nokia 9500, but i dont know whether to buy one right from nokia or save money elsewhere by buying from ebay, howardforums.com, etc...

the thing im worried about is if i buy it right from nokia, im sure ill get the warrenty too and will be able to get it fixed if anything goes wrong within a year, but i'm not sure that ill be able to do that if i order for one off ebay or a different online retailer, so...is it worth it? ($659 on howardforums.com, mobilebee, $729 NokiaUSA, no shipping charge over $50 order)

any thoughts?

You don't actually buy from nokiausa.com, it directs you to the Nokia part of letstalk.com. You do get the Nokia warranty though. I would think that the most important benefit to buying from nokiausa.com is that the phone is straight from the factory rather than branded/modified. I'm not sure, because i bought my phone with Cingular service and it arrived modified.

Last I heard the units from Nokiausa had relatively old firmware compared to the units imported from Europe.

Newer firmware is necessary for the blackberry support.

On the other hand, I'm doing fine with my 9500 with the very old 4.44 firmware. Only have one bug that really bothers me, and it doesn't really cause me enough trouble to go to the bother to get it upgraded.

The 9300s about to be released have the new firmware.
