Japanese firmware

Ok, from what I hear (at least that's what the seller was telling me) that the Japanese firmware is the worst... but I need it.

What I know about it that turns some people off is that the firmware can only play AAC/mp4 and there's no backlight on the keypad.

The AAC thing isn't that big of a deal, I use iTunes anyway. I can also live without backlight for my numbers; I'm not stupid, I can remember where approx. 15 buttons are off by heart.

So is there anything else I should be aware of before I shell out 600 bucks CDN???

The only absolute must is that it displays japanese track names because I listen to japanese music, and both my mp3 player and phone died so I want something to replace both at the same time... It looks like an awesome phone and I'm getting bored of the SE selections (overpriced IMO) so I'd like to get my hands on it. Could someone please help me out? Thank you!!

What I mean is, what peeves the owners off the most about this phone (the firmware to be more specific)?

Any software bugs? Any stupid DRM stuff? Do I have to use supplied software to transfer songs?? Any inconveniences? Anything???

Thanks a bunch!

the Japanese f/w I would say is the worst (as long as its fully unlocked), it all depends on what you want. The backlight issue is not longer an issue and has been solved. the mp3 issue is easily solved by converting to AAC files, aside from that the only limitation to the jap f/w is that is doesnt have T9 in English. The hk f/w support some japanese character if i am correct. There is fully functional jap f/w available out there with no real bugs, the test f/w has many bugs.

You wouldn't happen to know the code for the firmware eh...?? Because I just might get the phone, tonight even...

And what's this repro problem I keep hearing about? Has it been fixed, and does it happen to *all* phones with jpn f/w or the unlucky ones (in which case I'll have to deal with it, knowing my luck).

The repro pop-ups happens everytime you access the main menu and the messaging menu. Its a very very minor problem, one click NO eliminates it. Its nothing to worry about IMO. It just tries to update itself because its being used outside japan thats why the repro pop-ups happens. I coincider it NORMAL.
