E398 memory card capacity..

Well i currently use a 256mb memory card and plan to upgrade to a 512mb one..is dis possible or will it hang up the phone?Wat about 1 gb pls? Fast answers are appreciated bcoz i'm in China and will b leaving very soon,plan to gat the transflash card here..
