just received a 3rd sidekick in the past 3 days from tmobile. 1st was keypad peeling, 2nd one had leaked lcd screen. how many hours am i supposed to charge it the first time so that it can get a good full charge every time?

well .. like you.. im on my 5th one.. when u get a replacement/ refurbed one.. it should already have a good charge on the battery.. just use it up then charge it while u sleep .. the battery charge is the last thing im worried about on my sk2..

A full charge will be when the battery icon does not show it charging any more. Just shows the battery with all the lines, does not show it charging anymore. It is usually charged if you just put it on the charger over night.

yeah, but this time it doesnt look like it is a refurb. one. it has the plastic sticker screen on it. the charge looked dead so thats why i wanted to know how to fully discharge the battery so that i could get a good cycle charge every time. thanks for the reply though guys.

well every sidekick ive gotten for replacement has.. like you said. .the plastic on the screen to protect it and the plastic on the back for the camera, mirror part also..

There's really no need to do anything special. If it's a new battery, it just needs a few charge-discharge cycles to come up to full capacity.

With a full discharge it probably takes 3 cycles, with partials, maybe twice that.

The business of fully discharging to avoid the memory effect is applicable to nickel cadmium batteries which haven't been used in cell phones since the bag phone era.
