Problems with my new smt5600

I just bought an SMT5600 off of ebay recently. Well it finally arrived and seems to be working fine except that I can't get it to sync with my computer. My computer doesn't even seem to acknowlege that it is plugged in. It charges through the USB fine though.

I have tried different cables and even different computers. I used the included software on the CD and downloaded the newest version of active sync.

When I go to activesync and tell it to connect to my phone, it just keeps saying "Your device was not detected."

I don't even see it anywhere in my device manager.

When I plug it into my computer I don't even hear the usual noise that I've plugged something in.

I just did a factory reset and that didn't help at all.

I hope the phone isn't broken.

i had a problem with one as well, the usb just didn't work right on it. even if you don't have active sync installed it should register that you've plugged something in, even if the drivers/software for it aren't installed.

My experience was that although the computer recognizes the device, it won't send power unless ActiveSync is properly installed.

i know that my dad had the same problem when he tried to plug the phone in through a usb hub, but when he plugged it directly into the computer it worked fine.

this may or may not help, just thought i would put in my .02

It turns out the phone was still under warranty. Rather than deal with the ebay seller and have to find another one in seemingly good condition, I just sent it back to the factory.

Hopefully I won't have to buy another one, I should be getting a new or refurbished one from the factory any day.
