If someone could help with a question.
What happens when the battery on the i-mate SP5 runs out on the unit to all the programs.
Is everything still there as before or do you lose everything.

Windows Mobile 5.0 now uses the persistent ROM memory for storage. The battery can be dead indefinitely and it will come back exactly as you left it.

You need to recharge it before you can use your phone again.

Windows Mobile 5.0 introduced persistent memory storage for Pocket PC so that you don't loose your data. This is nothing new for smartphones as WindowsMobile 2003 SE already used persistent storage.

If you let the battery go dead you phone will turn into a terriable doomsday device!!!! hahaha

If you let it die you won't loose data.

but it damages the battery if you let the battery die. Li-ion batteries prefer to be topped up.

Nah, only if let it die constantly. If it happends once or twice you will be fine.

Yes. All Windows Smartphones with Windows Mobile 2003 or 5.0 will retain settings when they run out of battery. This may even be true on phones with MS Smartphon 2002, but I never had an MPx200 to try that out.
