Using Word Docs on Treo 650

Hi,

Do I understand correctly that the Treo 650 can read Microsoft Word documents without addition of any other programs.

What is the procedure to transfer the Word docs in and out of the Treo.

And, I cannot find DataViz or any other obvious program in the ALL cat that will read the Word docs

Thanks

Yes it can i have altered word documents on my phone 100%

You just need "documents to go" and it associates directly with palmdesktop and it is very easy to add stuff onto it, depending on the size of the file of course.

Yes no problem!!!! The Treo 650 coems with the necessary software, DataViz.

Quite often I type letters on my Treo and beam it to my computer with Infrared.

Thanks, but I am still missing some understanding of how this is done.

Can I hotsync the Word files to and from the Treo 650?

I do not see Documents to Go on my treo desktop, where is the program located?

Thanks

Docs to go is located in your Palm CD

Documents to Go supports native Word documents, meaning that you do not need to convert the Word documents into a regular PDB file for DTG to read it. You can just put them onto a SD card then it will read them with no problem.

There is also a desktop component to DTG that you can use which makes the process easier. When you install DTG on your desktop, it will provide an easy place for you to manage the files on your device, whether it be DOC, XLS, or PPT. It will allow you to sync a copy of the document to your Treo, then if you edit the document on your Treo, on your next HotSync it will automatically update the document on your desktop.

You'll understand what I just said when you actually see DTG in action .

DocsToGo is the best option but the built-in memos program also reads them...

Everthing with the Word Docs is now up and operational with your great help.

I did notice that I could only use word in native format if I put in on the SD card

Thanks

sorry to jack thread, but its related as far as the word docs go..

how do you beam with infrared to your computer? what do you need to do that, is it a USB hookup or something?

Posted by: narbeauchamp

You need to have an IR port on your computer in order to beam from the Treo.

Personally, unless you already have bought IR hardware, I would go with buying a bluetooth add-on for your computer...it's just a more logical/financially superior choice with today's technology...IR is only in select products and short ranged, and a majority of products use bluetooth now. And you can also hotsync using bluetooth without dealing with having to line up the IR ports all the time and hoping there is no interference or accidentally knocking them out of beam alignment.

At work I put a Bluetooth adapter on the computer. I use it to hotsync the Treo. At home I use a USB cable to hotsync. The cable is faster, but the bluetooth works great.
