Why won't my K750i not charge?

I have a K750i that I got off ebay and it worked fine... it came with the universal charger (with converter so i could charge it in the us) along with the usb cable. I lost the converter so I can't charge it from the wall and went to the cingular store today (to see if a w600 charger would work with it). I tested a couple different chargers for the SE W600 and none of them worked

(oddly enough, the chargers that came with the W600 in the box worked... the replacement chargers sold by singular didn't

) Anyway, they told me that if i plugged it into the USB port, it would charge. I got home and plugged it in. THe phone gives me the charging icon and has the lightning bolt on the battery icon when plugged into usb but despite being there now for over 5 hours, it still says in the phone info area (when you press the volume key up or down) that it has 1% battery life... what is the deal? Anyone know what may be wrong. And in the event that you don't, where can i buy a charger for this phone?

Pick up an adapter from the Shack . Works for me. The USB port has a much lower charge rate and will take forever. Although a 1% charge after 5 hours does not seem normal. Try to power cycle your phone. If that does not work, consider a firmware upgrade.

Anyway, the story got even weirder today. I took the phone to the cingular store and almost bought a "replacement charger" sold by cingular. It is supposed to fit the W600 and I was told that it would work but when i plugged it in it did not work. Oddly enough, the SE charger on the W600 worked. So, I bought the replacement charger and swapped it for the SE one. The phone is currently plugged in and it says its optimized charging. I hope it actually goes through and charges. I still am confused why it says charging when plugged into usb but doesn't actually do so

A few thoughts to offer:

1. When I got my K750i, I found the wall charger wasn't charging. The bulky Asian adapter that works as a physical kludge to actually plug the thing into the wall didn't work in a 2 prong extention cord. Go figure. Didn't make any sense to me. Anyway, I plugged it into a wall outlet and it worked like a charm.

2. Possibly a bug in the battery icon? I've never heard of that bug, but you could double check in the Settings > Phone Status menu and see if if correlates to a low-to-no charging process.

3. I have had it plugged it into my laptop via USB (transfering games and music and stuff) and I actually found that the charging was not slow at all.

Maybe the connector on the bottom of your phone has been damaged?

I saw this posting and thought there might be a problem with the battery. I checked the bottom of the phone and everything looked fine. I then checked the charger and hit the two spring prongs and it started charging so check those prongs on your charger.

Love my K750i - Now just gotta dump AT&T. The new Cingular. Time to split up those bastards.

I'm having the same problem with my new (to me) K790a. I got it without a wall charger (off ebay), so I was charging it via USB, and it was doing the charging animation. A few minutes later, it told me the battery was low.. then a few minutes later, it was totally dead, and I can't turn it on now. I ordered an aftermarket charger.. but it won't be here for a few days.

Guess I'm lucky I still have my solid 8125.
