Flashbackup on SLVR L7

Hi Guys,

I am trying to backup my phone so I can try some of the new Flashes as the Vodaphone (UK) one lacks a number of features including the automatic key lock which I really want, the software is also covered in Vodaphone logos which kinda sux so it would be nice to beable to get rid of them.

Anyway when I use Flashbackup (versions 2.5 and 1.87) it gives me a 'critical error 84' on the handset and crashes. This happens just after it loads the bootloader (which states 08.D0 if that is of use). I have left it for about an hour just to see if anything would happen but nothing!?

Any suggestions?

Or if this is a lost cause is there anyway to get the key pad autolock function enabled (it's just not there in the menu) some how??

Thank you in advance for any help.

Cheers

no i havent heard of the auto locking function but it be really handy.. i also get the same problems when i try to backup my flash..

The auto key lock feature is 'menu >> settings >> security >> automatic key lock' if you have it. The L7 I played with at carphonewarehouse did but mine, brought directly from Vodaphone, does not. It locks the keypad after 10-15secs.

When I questioned Motorola support on this they said the feature should be there and it's faulty software if it's not!?

Is your phone also on the Vodaphone network?

Are you sure flashbackup supports 08.D0 boot loader? I saw only 08.A0 external ram loader for flashbackup.

Posted by: f2d4

That would explain the errors!

How do I check the bootloaders supported as I can't read the Russian on the website!?

Is there another way to backup my phone before I try and flash it? I would hate to flash it only to find what I had was better with no way to revert back!

Thanks

I seem to have this problem with my Vodaphone L7 too. I have the autolock set to yes but it doesn't work. Its could be a huge batch of faulty phone.

Subscribing to see where this goes. I'd like to great rid of all the vodafone crap too.

Guys,
FlashBackup Team RU is working on the new version of this product to support L7.
At this point they can successfuly get:
BOOT
CG2
CG3
CG4
CG7
CG15
CG18
Problems they have are with:
CG1
PDS

You can use RSDLite2.5 and higher to flash the phone or use PKTools to change seem/java/skins, etc.... SITY started posting the new moster packs at this address http://www.sity.ru/forums/showthread.php?t=888

Use FB3. It backs up everything but the PDS.

Ok, thanks for the FB3. But now I'm facing another problem, when I try to recover the backup that I've made with FB3 the "critical error 84" apears again. Can u help me on that???
Note: the critical error appears only when I try to install the CG1 (Firmware)
Thanks

you will use RSD Lite 3.0 to flash your backup not the Flash&Backup3.

Posted by: ikos

Thank you Kirklestat. But the RSD lite 3 comes with an the error:

"Phone failed initial security verification checks. HAB error 0x8D".

This error comes at the end of the flashing procedure(at least it comes to an end).

My cellphone:
L7v (Vodaphone Live)
Software Version: R4513_G_08.B7.5DR_RB
Flex Version: SE5793AXXF40E2
Bootloader Version: v0x0008D0

I've tried to back it up with FB3, now the RSD lite 3 shows:
Filename: 2007-02-09_233100.shx
Creation Date: 02/10/2007 01:38:29
File size: 68245722
RAM DL Version: v0x0008D0
Bootloader Version: -------------
Platform: GSM Neptune LTE2
HAB Type: Signed Production

it's ok. it gives error because the backup was not checksum fixed but as long as your phone reboots then it's fine.
