RIM licenses PocketMac

PocketMac folks are claiming they've struck a deal with RIM and their software will be included with the Blackberry. From all the problems people seem to have with this software this may be the beginning of the end for RIM.

I don't understand your point: How could a problem with support for a platform which is used by a minority of users spell the beginning of the end for RIM?

I've used it flawlessly for a year now....no worries here...

Not a single issue with Pocket Mac, works brilliantly!!! In fact, never heard a single complaint!!!

WTH are you yammering about? How on earth does RIM offering PocketMac signify the end? If anything it now gives Mac users a reason to consider a BB with no additional software charge. I myself have had no issue with PocketMac, get your facts straight...

so by enabling the minority of users to get their proper drivers and software for the mac OS .. that leads u to believe its the End? i think ur a little mis-informed..
if anything its a NEW milestone in RIM history?

Because I've heard nothing but complaints from PocketMac users. Bugs. Data corrpution. Yada yada. Hopefully RIM will help them work out the kinks before it rolls...

PocketMac, issue, problems? Your use of "Yada, Yada" implies a Seinfeld reference, which means your claim is probably "nothing". You must be thinking about a different program. I have used it without an issue, as have the other 10 or 12 people I have spoken to. Maybe you should think of uprgarding from OS9. The only issue with PocketMac I have heard of is the lack of an App Loader, but they may have solved that issue if RIM is thinking about supporting the program. Now if only Apple would jump on the bandwagon, and work Blackberry syncing into their software, we'd be golden.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I thought I might throw this out there since if I get a Blackberry, I'll be using it with a mac.

Would you suggest I get a Blackberry, or stray away?

I plan on using the phone for purely personal use, surfing the internet, checking scores, stocks, chatting and IM. I'm not really worried about paying the money for it or really about it's size at all (I prefer to have a phone on a holster since I was with Nextel for a while). Only reason I ask is because people seem to always say in reviews to stay away unless you are the "business on the go" person. However all of the features it offers sound great to me, I especially like the 8700c.

Any input would be great, thanks,

Paul

Even better you can see the demise of a company (that might I mention had the ability to offer almost half a bil. to settle a legal dispute) based on what you've heard about a third party app which only has 6mo's of life in the market... If that's not jumping to conclusion I'm not sure what is? Again get your facts together.

It sounds like you don't even use the application, so why would you weigh in with an opinion on it? Do you even own a Blackberry, let alone a Mac?

Yes I am a Mac user but I don't use Pocketmac as my data is too important and I've heard too many horror stories of corruption and complete loss. While that might not be a problem for most consumers the Blackberry (which I've had since the 857) has always targeted business users. Pocketmac just hasn't had the stability to br trusted with corporate data. I'm hoping that RIM has helped them get that straightened out... until then I'll go Blackberry -> PC -> Plaxo -> Mac.
