ok i got a motorola L7 today from howardforums.com and everything came as promised, except they forgot to include the motorola headset, but I talked to them and they said they will send me out one. Ok anyways back to the question i wanted to know if i can have the keypad to automatically turn on instead of only in the night.

mine does it only at night or if i cover my hands over the screen then press a button. what version frimware do you have on your slvr?

Bought an L7 yesterday and the light comes on whenever I push a button -- not only in the dark / night. I'm a first time Motorola user.

ya something like that. im sure someone will figure out a hack or come up with a flash/flex to disable that.

okay well i made a mistake in saying mine goes on whenever i push a key... i just noticed to day that in light the keypad backlight wont turn on. but when i cover the top of the phone with my finger then push a button it turns on.

interesting. i dont mind it though.

my keypad doesn't turn on under lighted conditions either ... i'm not sure about changing it to come on all the time, but for me i actually like it like that.

i read in the v600 manual that the phone has a light sensor built it, and that when its light the keyboard wont light so it saves battery, but when it senses that there isnt enough light hte keypad comes on so i assume its for all motos since they run the same os

i mean its not that big of a deal to me, but i just think the keypad light is cool looking, so i thought maybe there was a way to get it to always light up when pushing a key.

Sorry, I've rechecked and my phone does that too -- keypad won't light in bright light, lights up in the dark
