Hey guys...so I started using this service a while back called allofmp3.com
the site sells mp3 by the mb...its a controversial service, but ive researched it and found no negative complaints about it...apparantly its legal. anyhow that said...i found something interesting while using their service. When you buy any mp3 (which runs about 10 cents per single) it encodes the mp3 for you then sends you an email with a link that you can download your song from.
So I wanted to figure out a way i could do this on my windows mobile 5 imate sp5m.
SO....i started to dig around. Keep in mind i have unlimited EDGE, and i have push email to my phone (using smartner alwaysonmail). So i downloaded a song by logging into my allofmp3 account from my smartphone via pocket IE ( i havent tried via opera yet...will see if that works and post back), and once the email link was sent to me on my smartphone i simply clicked the link but pocket ie wouldnt let me auto download the mp3 to my phone. I tried in opera and got similar results. I realized then that i had TCPMP on my phone, which for those of you who dont know is a really good free media player (video/audio). I went into the file associations page under options/settings in tcpmp and associated mp3 to the TCPMP app. I went back to my email in my smartphone and clicked the link again and voila it comes up with a prompt asking me if i want to download the file....at this point if you hit yes..it will post probably tell you that your device doesnt have enough room...so just hit menu and save the mp3 to your storage card...now it will open TCPMP and play the mp3 you just downloaded...
So..a very long explanation...but since allofmp3 is so cheap....i could literally download any song I wanted at this point all through my smartphone. And since my smartphone is connected to my car audio system via a stereo out cable...i have access now to any song i want at any time (limited to what is available on allofmp3's site...but they do have lots of mp3 new and old).
So to recap in order to do this you would have to have unlimited data, again i do have edge so the download of any given mp3 takes only a few minutes.
Doing this on standard gprs would be painful....at my edge speeds i get about 134k-220/sec, and with the sp5m i can also jump on wifi...
All in all...pretty damn cool...beats any itunes phone out there....!
P.S. I know some of you may reply about the legality of allofmp3 but again i havent found any negative comments about it being either a scam or illegal. Until i hear otherwise..ill use this option!
ill test back with opera and report back if anyone is interested...
maybe this will be helpful to someone

Dude,
I just bought a qtek 8300 (similar to your sp5m), and the only problem that I was having was that I couldn't get streaming audio (mp3 or wma) to work. I tried the standard software, and also tried installing pocket music and pocket streamer pro, neither of which worked.
After reading your post, I installed TCPMP, and lo and behold, I can now get all of my favorite Shoutcast stations over wifi!!! Maybe someday I'll take the plunge for data access (GPRS or EDGE), but wifi is plenty good for now.
It is strange that the phone doesn't do it this out of the box, but now it is perfect.
THANK YOU!
