I was reading the other day that you can get software to use the treo as a universal remote. Does anybody have any experience with any of this software or for that matter used the treo in this manner? I just think it would be really cool using the touchscreen for all your remote needs. Thanks!

it's called NoviRemote Deluxe, I believe.
I had it on my treo for a few days. it actually had about a 6-7 foot range. not too bad.
it was fun for the cool factor. But, it took up a lot of space, and to run it off the card, i had some problems. with the DB's and all that.

but it has a learn feature which is also good because with all the specialized remotes out there.

i like it, but too much of a memory hog for my needs, lol, plus i have grubby fast food fingers when i watch the canuck game, those need to stay away from my treo!!

I've used NoviiRemote Deluxe, but it doesn't give me the range i like(it only gives me 5-6 feet) so i just use a nice universal remote

heh why is it the clie can work so well but this thing wont?

The Clie i believe has remote software built-in and most of the other PalmOS don't...Also, the Clie's might have a more powerful or better IR port...

damn straight that thing rules as a remote

My Treo sucked as a remote and i uninstalled the 2.5MB of software you need...

has nothing to do with the software.. the treos just come with a very short range infrared port.
