I love the speed dial (hold down the # assigned), but don't see a way to 'execute' the speed mail... Anyone use this function?

Speed mail is a feature only in the JP firmware.

To use it you program it in from the Messaging -> Messaging Settings -> Speed Mail Settings menu, and then to use it you press the number of the person you want to send to on the standby screen and then press the down arrow to have that recipient automatically entered into the address field of a new message.

Thanks- I was suspicious of this, as I had thought I had used it this way before I had changed from the Japanese firmware. The Euro firmware lets me make a speed mail list, so I was assuming it actually used the speed mail somehow.

A real shame, as I use mail more than I make phone calls...

Yeah I'm annoyed they didn't leave it in the Euro firmware either. I don't know why they just go and remove features in this way.

Having said that, you shouldn't even have the settings for making a speed mail list available in the Euro firmware at all (my official Australian one doesn't), so I think something weird happened when you got it flashed to Euro firmware.

it hasn't been master resetted yet.. thats why.

So I should be master resetting it? Nothing else seems to be wrong - and usually I practice the 'if it aint broke' theory... I was really confident with the skill of the guys at First Markham Place doing the unlock.

yah. they probably just forgot to master reset it. the japanese settings are sitting in your phone's onboard memory.. the rom. it partially thinks its still japanese. with the master reset. it will tell the phone.. yo.. i'm euro.

Well if it isn't broken, you should be able to master reset it without a problem, no? Proper firmware flashes don't get broken by master resets anymore, so I'm sure it's alright for you to do one.
