hi there,

i spilt liquid on my k750i and it no longer works properly

.the 8 key dosnt work
.its really hard to push the joystick down
.it hangs when you have a memory stick inserted
.the screen isnt very clear
.the speaker is very quiet, and i dont think the microphone works

is it possible/economical to repair the phone? im happy to give it a crack myself

if so, where do i source the parts/tools required?

What kind of 'liquid' did you spill on it . . it might help to know. I've known of some ppl who've spilt water on theirs and got them working but alcohol (beer) seems to be the big killer!

If you've no insurance on it, you may as well take it apart and try and clean off any obvious physical stains. Any good PC repair/electronics store will have a proper propriety cleaner that you can use.

If salvagable, this should fix all but the speaker problem. It's sounding like you mght just have to buy a replacement unit. These are available from the likes of cnn.cn

the 'liquid' was partly alcohol.. and partly what i had for dinner that night!!

i was at a very messy party at a mate's farm and decided to sleep outside in case i was sick.. which was a good idea! but leaving my phone beside me was a bad idea

phone was then rinsed in water to try and 'clean' it up.. but, yeah, it no workee

no insurance and no warranty.. i took it to a phone repair place but they didnt have any access to replacement parts so all they did was clean it. so it now turns on, but the 8 key dosnt work, the joystick is a bit stiff, the mic/speakers are both a bit dudded and it hangs when you turn the phone in with a memorystick inside.

at the present time i'm thinking that i'm up for a new joystick, keypad PCB, speaker unit and microphone. i've found all of those on cnn.cn, thanks

but what about the 'mainboard' (or whatever it's called)? because the phone hangs when you try and turn the phone on with the memorystick in the phone.. and without a memorystick it's not a very cool phone

would that be related to the mainboard? and can you get new mainboards as well?

and what sort of tools will i need to take my phone apart and put it back together? im happy to mess around with it, i just don't know what to buy

I think the mainboard isnt that badly damaged if you can use the phone without a mem card . . your problem lies in the mem card slot. When you've got it apart, see if you can see any 'foreign bodies' in the slot. Try and clean it with a combination of a small paint brush and possibly an aerosol PC cleaner.

The 'sticking' problem you've got with your keys seem to stem from the same problem . . puke!

Opening tools can be bought from a variety of eBay sellers.

okay you might laugh at me, but I accidently dropped my phone in a port-a-potty while being drunk. phone seems to work, besides one thing (luckily) the memory card slot does not seem to work. I tested out my memory card by itself via my computer and that's dead. I Bought a new memory card.. and that still doesn't work.

The phone doesn't start up properly (hangs up) when I have the new card inserted.

Were you able to fix your phone?

Water damage phones can be repaired as long as you remove the battery and bring it to someone who has an ultrasonic cleaner and can remove the damage from the liquid. Never Power the phone until you are sure that the phone is 100% dried up internally

hmm kinda too late on the 'never turn it on til it's 100% dried up' .... do you know where i can get an 'ultrasonic' cleaner? like what type of product i can find to use?

I'm kinda late ... but I had the same problem today, the "3,6,9 & #" keys doesn't work ... and the phone hanged when sony MS inserted too

I upgraded the phone's software via SEUS (sony ericsson update service) and now the phone works with the memorystick , and btw there were more disfunctional keys be4 upgrading the software

any suggestions?

I need some serious help in this area as well.

I don't know how it happened on mine but my mic no longer works on my K750i. Everything else works PERFECTLY!!
But to place calls I have to use a Bluetooth headset.
I mean I guess I could use the wired one but why?

Anyway my main question is, who can I send this off to, to get repaired or is it even possible to open it up and replace the mic myself?
I heard it was soldered to the board so any info or help in this area would oh so appreciated.

i had similar problems...
i dipped my phone into orange juice. The phone rang, strap got caught on my hand and i dunked it into a cup of orange juice. I immediately turned the phone off, and dried off the juice.

With the buttons not working, I can tell you that problem. There's a really small copper(??) piece that connects your button panel to the mainboard. That piece is probably loose or dead. I had the same numbers not working for me. The copper piece you'll see it. In your case if the whole right side is dead, there's 2 copper pieces you have to deal with. As long as you get those "repaired" it should be a simple fix.

I tried to get my phone fixed but they said they couldn't do it.
As for the OJ, it didn't cause too much problems since i got to it right away and didn't power on until i dried it off... but the speaker (earpiece) was really distorted after.

I didn't really get to fix any of the problems and just got a new phone.
