all you need to do is... just plug it in, test it and you can tell if it works or not

Remember........if the phone starts to smoke, unplug it!

or buy a desktop charger and put the battery and charge it.

I saw some info on this....
I personally have WAY to many chargers around so anytime I can pool some devices it is a real win especially when I travel.

It does not appear that the phone will charge on a standard USB cable. I believe it is because the phone needs one of two signals to start charging. One is provided in software by the drivers. If you plug the phone into a PC with no drivers it does not charge but with MPT it works fine.

I read somewhere that the fifth wire on mini USB cable is not always used but is needed for the phone to charge. My Blackberry charger does not work on the phone but the phone charger does work on the Blackberry so this may be true.

I saw some 5 wire Mini USB cables that may work but I haven't really dug into the technical details.

From my understanding, any usb cable will work, but you need the drivers. I believe the drivers control the power level used for charging. When the drivers aren't detected the phone won't try to charge, in order to protect itself. By this understanding, a usb cable into a usb power adapter will not charge the phone.
