I want to get a hiptop2. If i was to buy one from the states on ebay that is for T-Mobile, is it possible to get it unlocked to work on the Fido network in Canada?

If it is, does anyone know of any places that can do it in Vancouver?

I don't know if you can get it unlocked, but if you can, I don't really see the point besides the coolness of it. From what I've heard, it won't work with any of the data features like web browsing.

An unlocked T-Mobile Sidekick will give you phone and SMS *only* on Fido. Data features will not work. It's really hardly worth it.

After spending LITERALLY the whole day on the phone today and the good portion of yesterday on the phone (calling all wireless carries in Canada). MY JUICY COUTURE SIDEKICK II is now FINALLY working on the Fido/Rogers network. (I am with TMobile...but had to put a seasonal suspend due to being in Toronto for the next few months)

Everyone told me different information. So I finally just called Danger--and they gave me the correct information. So, I called Fido AGAIN to put my "hiptop package" back on. Phew!

So--you should all call Fido (well, whoever is with them)--their customer service is INSANELY uninformed!!! But the SKII DOES WORK with Fido (not just the hiptop)!! Everyone told me it wouldn't work--but I kept calling and calling and researching till finally I got through to Danger (they are so nice over there!)! Thank goodness!

But what a ton of hassle! Fido should know that information. Ridiculousness.

So is it just some settings in the hiptop/sidekick that need to be adjusted? Or is the process more involved?

As I understand it you have all the hiptop features working under fido?

I am wondering since I am considering purchasing a hiptop 2 from a t-mobile customer but I will have to activate it under fido here in Canada.

Thanks for any information that you have,

~ k
