Hey everyone, first and foremost I wanted to thank everyone here for providing such an excellent library for everything one could possibly need connected to phone modding!

now I have read many articles on the forums and i am kinda stuck i cannot get my phone to work!

I will bold whatever is critical information incase you don't want to read all this and just get to the main points.

The original problem was that when going from 42r_for_all.shx using PST 7.2.3 and than following the link for easy modding http://mirror.softcox.com/e398-to-ROKR/ by using flashbackup 2.5 to restore my PDS.

once I performed this task, and rebooted the phone it began flashing white screen and than off. It would not respond unless the battery was taken out at which time the bootloader was working.

I than used flashbackup 2.5 to do a full restore. the phone went back to the way it was normally working fine. whew! so i than decided to try again.

updated successfuly once again 42r_for_all.shx

now the phone loads up fine. i than decided to go straight to another MP.

what happened now is the killer -- while in the middle of the next flash, the computer suddenly decides to go to stand by! idle for 25 minutes already! the phone than suddenly shuts off and won't load up at all. nothing

I tried a few times to get something going when the phone is off and dead but plugged in. I tried a few restores, and even tried used RSD lite 1.8 to load up an older flash.

tried using one of hte programs (flashbackup) to install a new bootloader as well. I tried to do the shorting of the 4th+5th pin, I don't know if i got them well but I tried several times, and nothing happens no matter what i do.

oh also when I plug it into windows it says "device unrecognized"

the phone seems to be totally dead.

i am in israel if anyone here can help locally!

this really sucks I cant believe this laptop I was using had to do that! Argh

also i am going to try to locate some screwdriver soon in order to try shorting the chip directly as shown in this article http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...244#post5740244 by shadowphantom

But the way things are lookign I don't know if that will work either. i think the bootloader some how got messed up i am not sure. The cable was secured very well!

Thanks for all the help guys helped already with everything ....

I'm almost in the same boat as you but I lost the drivers for my E398. My computer can't recognize my phone so i can't use MFF to flash to a different monsterpack. I can get into bootloader but without the drivers MFF can't recognize my device. School is just beginning and I don't have time to fix it thats why I'm selling it for so cheap. It's really a great phone when its working though. Good luck man.

shorting pins 4+5 works almost every time, you just need to know how to do it properly, it took me several tries too. try finding a movie (made by muncheno, i think), it will show you exactly how to do it.

after that you will get into bootloader and can restore a backup. or flash another MP.
