1. can you transfer files, sync data over bluetooth or is it just for headsets?

2. can you change the interface theme from the cingular blue/orange theme?

3. i thought t-mobile wasn't implementing an EDGE network for many more months. why would it be worth it to wait for t-mo's 8700?

4. the cingular data plans confuse me. there's blackberry 4mb and unlimited, then there are the MEdia net plans, then there are Text Messaging plans.
a) i don't need to connect to an exchange server for email.
b) i have 3 POP accounts, one IMAP to check. ?50 msgs/day
c) i have an AIM account i use heavily, a Yahoo one i use occasionally.
d) i'll want to use the web as much as financially feasible.
e) i text message [SMS] maybe about 250 a month or so.

can anyone help me figure out how to build a plan?

You will need the 4mb limited plan or the unlimited plan from Blackberry to use you 8700. The media Net plans will not allow you to use the features on your 8700.

As Greg said you will need one of the BB Data Plans. They replaces the media Net plans for the BB. You will be able to use IM with one of the many third party IM Apps available. SMS is separate from the BB Data so you will also need an SMS line on your Voice Plan. Since you say you IM a lot, I would start out with the unlimited plan.
