"3GP converter" = Perfect video

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Pimpstrong

There are all kinds of different programs for making video but I just want to post this for the people still trying to make perfect videos.

I had problems with this program untill i updated my quicktime to Quicktime 7 via their free update on the Apple website here
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

Now download the "3GP Converter" program where it says "main tool and download site"
http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/

once downloaded you must first go to setup, then select english from the bottom.

then select "3GPP+AAC General setting"

then open the converter, select QVGA High Quality 15fps stereo

drag and drop an .mpg, .mpeg, or .avi file. From what i've tried it will not convert a .wmv file.

it takes about 40 minutes to do an episode of family guy and not much longer to do 1 of 2 parts of an .avi movie file.

my average finished product size is around 70MB for a show. An episode of lost that was in HD went from 349MB to 78.1 and STILL looks in HD. music videos around 15MB.

Drag and drop as many files as you want in the list because it goes through them like an assembly line and spits them into the temp folder. (when they first get to the Temp folder they are not video files. 1 file will be 2 files that eventually make 1 viewable file.

GL and I hope this helps

P.S. Normal Quality Stereo cuts the MB's nearly in half and barely makes a quality difference.

Do you all know any place to download anything already in this format? I just want to see what a video looks like on my phone - and I bought a 1 GB miniSD to mess with.

I'm trying to find anything Spiderman as my kid freaks out over Spidey. (or episodes of The Office)

Thanks

Posted by: cool00guy

Do you know what I can use to convert 3g2 files out of the phone into mpeg1,2,3 or avi?

I have tried SUPER, and AVONE, both which fail with error code that my phone file is corrupt.

Posted by: Phenom24

Hey pimpstrong -

I downloaded this app, and then tried to convert a few local .mov files. Only problem is, I can't find them!! Even after specifiying the output location, the files are seemingly non-existent.

Very odd! Any thoughts?

Thanks

Posted by: Pimpstrong

hmm. thats weird i didnt change my destination from the Temp folder and their always there. try putting them back into the temp folder

Posted by: Phenom24

All right, I got it working. (finally!) But can I increase the FPS at all? I put a couple .mov files in and they're laggy.

I mean, the size of the card isn't an issue - I have 1 GB, but can the files play at higher framerates?

Posted by: rabbit1080

No matter what I do I am always getting an "Error:-2095". Can someone help? Im not having any luck with mpegable x4 live either. With that program after I convert a video they only last 1min 40sec.

Posted by: rkurk13

i did all that was instructed but when i put my sd into my phone and try playing the video it is just white...it doesnt seem to be working for me

Posted by: iseedeadpeople

I have a .3gp converter that I use to convert videos before for my .3gp videos effective and straightforward, email me and I probably can help you out..

Posted by: hbko181

Where are you guys getting these COMPLETE Eposide videos of Lost and Family Guy? Off the internet for free? Please let me know.

Posted by: rabbit1080

axim, i am definately interested in your .3gp converter if it works for you. help me out

An episode of Family Guy I converted with 3GP converter and a custom Transcoding.ini file. 18fps, 128kbps video, 24kbps mono audio. Sounds and looks excellent, each 22ish minute episode is about 26mb. I have the entire season 1 dvd on my 512mb transflash. (Moto E815)

Posted by: hbko181

Sweet!!!! Thanks It worked

For someone who need help here is what I did.....

1. I downloaded the file from the link he gave me saved it to My Videos on my PC.

2. I then took my MINISD card and Put it into my USB adapter.
Went to My Documents, My Videos, and got the file. Went to Start, Search, All Files and Folders, look In: Removable Disc F: once I clicked that it Opened my MINISD folder, then I clicked on the My Flix Folder and dragged the Familyguyfilde and put it into the MINISD Carsd. It took a few seconds to transfer.

I think its easier transfering it straight to the card then going thru BITPM.
3. Once that was complete I put the MINISD Card into my phone went to get PIx&Flix, My Flix and Played the Family Guy Episode.

JBRIGHTBILL.......How and where do you get these compete episodes at on your computer? You have the DVD and you transfer it to your computer via the converter and save it that way??

This is how you do it, first ripped the DVD to a codec that your .3gp converter supports, in my case I ripped DVDs to a codec .avi(DivX).. then convert it to .3gp..sounds simple? it might be, if you have the right programs..
I helped out a member in here I dont know if it worked for him, I use Xilisoft before, then moved to smartmovie converter and smartmovie player, BTW I have S60 device, so I think xilisoft 3gp converter will help you more..

Posted by: jlbrightbill

I use 3GP Converter. First off I rip the DVD with DVD Shrink (Unchecking "Split VOB files into 1GB chunks), so each VOB file is one episode of a TV show DVD. I drag and drop them into the 3GP Converter window with my custom encoding settings, and in about 5-7 minutes I have a converted episode.

what version of DVD shrink your using? I stopped using that and switched too xilisoft dvd ripper, for my PSP and Ipod Videos.. for my Nokia N70 I convert the ripped DVD's using smartmovie converter, I find that application is straight forward,

Japanese site, but it's not hard at all to find the program. Extract and run the setup, change the language to English and you're all set. I'm attaching a transcoding.ini file, place it in your "default_setting" folder then select it in Setup. It's for an E815 (176x144), so you might need to tweak it a bit for other phones. Change the file extension to .ini, it's .txt now.

DVD Shrink 3.2 is the version I'm using. I go to "Re-author", then pull out all the episodes I want/main movie, then change compression settings to 100% to get the full quality.

Posted by: ensui1993

Hi Axim,

I downloaded the 3gp convertor that pimpstrong recommended and got it working, but i don't think the vx8100 can handle that big of a resolution and does not have a resolution control. Does the converter you have convert to 176*144? 320*240 just seems to be too much. If I play it on my pc, it plays smooth, so I know it's not the file. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Posted by: andrew_0812

A little off topic, and it may have been asked before, but is there any known way to get the videos to play on the front screen with the phone closed, like with mp3s? I doubt it, and it would mean a smaller screen, but just curious.

Posted by: rkurk13

i got the video and all on my phone but theres a huge delay..is there a fix for it? the words dont match up with what the ppl are saying yea kno?

Posted by: NowhereFast

Hello guys,
I converted an episode of "the office" and the file size was 27mb. I've noticed that some downloads from other threads were almost half (10-12 mb). How do you get them that small? Is it in the settings? Here are my settings....

176x192,18fps,128kbps,24kbps

Thanks...

Posted by: Phenom24

Hey nowherefast - I would love to download that from you.. The one with the guys in the warehouse Thursday was awesome.

Anyway, my problems with sound delay and frames per second lag were solved by

(drum roll please)

Changing the output from QVGA to QCIF.

With that done, everything plays as smooth as a baby's butt.

I output things from VideoLan (I'm trying to put a bit of Napoleon Dynamite on now) into MPG4 and then convert them into QCIF Normal Quality 15FPS Stereo.
Everything is beautiful!

Posted by: NowhereFast

Phenom - hush hush on last week's episode. Haven't seen it yet. I recorded it but won't see it till tomorrow. I'm sure it's hilarious. I would be glad to send you the pilot episode, but it is 27 mb, so e-mail won't justify, unless I zip. Or do you know of a good free web-hosting site that I can place.

Oh yeah, that gives my an idea on napoleon dynamoite too. I'll start working on some clips of that too...sweeeeeeettt!!!!

what size are you vid's at normally?

Posted by: Phenom24

Well, let me take a look! The biggest one I have is 36MB, and it's about 20-25 minutes of SpiderMan cartoons. That one is for my son.

But I have a couple music videos that are 7 MB each, and a couple videos of my son doing goofy stuff - basically a video of him watching a video on the phone.

The file sizes aren't a biggie - I have a 1 GB MiniSD in the phone.

And I do have a Streamload account - but I have to see how much can be uploaded... That would be awesome!

Posted by: NowhereFast

Phenom - just send me your e-mail address and I could send it through sendit.com, and a link will be e-mailed to you as to where to download my file. Oh yeah, and I finally saw last week's episode, it was possible one of the best of this season.

Posted by: Phenom24

Hey nowherefast - I will PM it to you. But do you have the warehouse one? That one was better than the week before - was that the one when Mike takes Jim to Hooters? (or the "stuff" under his desk" one?)

Hey, I'm getting old.

Thanks -

Glenn

Posted by: cool00guy

Hello,
Wonder if anyone has been able to successfully encode FROM the 3g2 on phone TO avi or mpg?
I am using SUPER and have not found a way to get it to work.
Thanks

Posted by: Phenom24

As an update, I now have 6 episodes of The Office (from the DVD) clips from Madagascar, 5 episodes of SpiderMan - all through the converter into 3GPP as QCIF Stereo.

Awesome awesome awesome.

This phone is so cool.

Posted by: MRCOCKRELL

damn 40 minutes for a show, it takes like 40 seconds with the ImToo 3gP Converter, and it looks great, and you can choose as high of quality as you want...

i downloaded it and converted a file, using the High Quality 15fps Stereo option, and the actual output quality was as follows:

Bit rate: 147kbps
Format: mpeg4
Size: 176x144
Frame rate: 25.00fps

this program takes too long, and is way too limited for me...

i'll stick with ImToo 3gP Converter, it can do exactly what this one does, alot quicker, and supports all formats

Posted by: slickinteg

xilisoft 3gp convertor is good for that

Posted by: robert0259

On the Xilisoft 3gp converter..I used it and the video is fine, but, the sound lags behind...I'm using a 8100.

Just wondering if anyone figured this out? I would like to be able to email videos from my phone without requiring everyone to have QuickTime...

Thanks!

Im TOO 3GP converter seems to be able to get vids to mpeg1 or avi.
It's a free program too.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get better AUDIO out of clips?

I currently have the audio sample rate at 8000hz and mono (1 channel) as the searches revealed this as a setting for audio on a v635. I'm finding that the audio simply isn't as good as it could be as compared the the flawless video I get.

Any suggestions?
I'm using the free version of Im TOO 3GP converter.

TIA,
Mr.Conviviality

I dont understand if I have problem w the 3GP converter to download quicktime 7 and do what? I missed that part. I cant seem to get it to work. I ripped it with DVD decrypter on IFO format and when I drag it to the converter I keep getting an error message. I have tried Mpegable, Imtoo and nothing works for me.

maybe you should get the full version, PM me if you need assistance on that

as far as Helping you with your current problem, maybe if you actually told us what error you recieved we would have atleast some idea where to start?

also just incase some people dont know, you can use Quicktime to edit 3gP, 3g2, or Mp4 files, and convert mov clips to those formats at well

go to phone page of my site for full version of imtoo converter and use the serial provided
www.peaceoverdoor.co.nr

i also have converted video for LG 535 screen great quality new movies

Help... I have been trying to use this, and other converters for my 8100. I currently have MANY avi files that I use on my pocket pc, and have tried to convert those using the 3GP converter so I could play them on my 8100...but no luck. I have tried different settings but nothing seems to work. Either the picture is choppy and the sound out of sync or nothing at all. They play nicely on my laptop but not on my phone. I have had luck with the Mpegable 4 program but hate having that water mark in the corner of the phone.

I have seen where some of you have played around with the settings and gotten good results...any thoughts would be great!
Thanks.

Posted by: Mad @ telus

i got pissed off with imtoo and switched to Mpegable (which seems to have trouble converting Mpg & Mpeg which is odd considering the name of the program) but i only use .avi and they seem to work great. Not sure what u r talking about a watermark in corner jlong4 i dont get that
Try www.peaceoverdoor.co.nr for Mpegable and instructions

Posted by: Mad @ telus

follow instructions but change the video bitrate to 250 for great quality

Posted by: Steaks

Posted by: Hypnosis4u2nv

I have a problem using Mpegable as everything else just crashes.. The files are converted to 3gP but wont play in my LGVX9800.. Any ideas?

BTW: I following the instructions setting the video size to 320x240 and now Im able to play the video.. I have 2 problems, no sound and the window does not want to maximize so that I can only see the video.. Using the phone to look up the file info, it has no resolution information..

Any ideas on what I need to do to clear those up..

Are there any GOOD converters to convert wmv to mpg (so i can convert the mpg to 3gp) to put on my phone...
Alternatively is there any simple program which allows me to cut bits and pieces out of a mpg file, so that there is not a 5 second wait at the start, or perhaps if i just wanted a small section of that mpg in a smaller file.
Please help...

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie. Have had my V 9800 for a week, trying to convert dvd's to my phone.
Have read 56 pages of posts on the 9800 link including "how to download video". I'm read these posts here also.I'm sooooo close to making this work with watching movies/tv shows on my phone, but the sound still doesn't sync with the video (Daily Show clips on my own dvd) I seem to be getting the best results with the IMtoo 3gp program, but as a mp4 file conversion...........but still no sync. The video is great and plays full screen. Any advice?
thanks. This entire forum is awesome.

i use a program called mobile media converter by a company called miksoft. it took the whole final fantasy from divx quality to .3gp. took only 10 or 15 mins an its only 47 mbs. good quality too. an it also converts vice versa .3gp into .mpg

Posted by: Mclarenlover69

does anyone happen to have a custom transcoding.txt or ini for the VX8300? I've read somewhere that it's resolution is 176x184, but it supports QCIF+, but can't find that thread anymore. Would this little converter be able to convert to QCIF+?

Thanks for any help

Seems that that resolution isn't right. When I use the transcoding.txt already posted, the video plays well, but it only fills up some of the screen... not sure whats going on with it...

Hi i've succesfully placed videos on my phone through the method of adding 3gp files to the my flix folder on my microSD by using a digi cam as a reader.

The question I have is how I use DVD shrink to rip the dvd.. I unchecked the split vob files box and ripped the movie as and ISO file as I have previously used to burn DVDs but when I drop the file into 3GP converter it says there is an error.

I think I am not supposed to be making them into ISO files and if this is true what am I supposed to change in DVD shrink?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I have used this download program to put a movie on my phone. The movie plays, but its choppy and slow (the voices don't match the scenes). What might the reason for this be? I have the LG8100 and 1G mini SD.
