Ok i did a search but found everything else related to BT. My question is. is there any or is it possible to make a java aplication that would allow me to create a folder on my computer thats accessable from my phone via bluetooth? Or even access the whole computer. I have a V360. ~Brent

if you're talking ab out all the time most likely not because you have to be ina certain range

if you buy a simple bluetooth USB Adapter for you computer(s) you can link to your computer(s) (I'm on Windows XP platform). My Razr has the following files on the phone and the computer, shared on "bluetooth wireless netwok" :

Video, Audio,Notes, Cards (as in business) and Pictures.

I commonly swap between phone and computer. Bluetooth is slow and with large files it often fails, thus for those i use a USB to Razr cable. The transfer rate is 100 on cable vs 58 on bluetooth, twices as fast... but nothing beats laying in bed and accessing your phone anywhere in the house you left it(usually i'm not sure where i left it last ). With a microphone and speaker and a program such as Motorola Phone Tools, you can dial or answer remotely, talk on your cell via the computer, send text or email, read text and email..ect. i do it every evening..

You wouldn't be able to browse the files from the phone at all. You'd need the FTP client profile, and motorola phones only have the server profile (meaning you can browse the phone from another source)

ok thats what i was wondering. i already access my phone from the computer through bt, just wondered if i could go the other way around. (as long as i was in range) but that makes sense with it not being the host. thanks.

Never said you can browse the files. You can transfer or exchange files with a bluetooth gateway, big difference: use any of the following depending on your purpose:
- Motorola Phone OBEX objext push
- Motorola Phone OBEX file transfer
- Motorola Phone Dial up Network Gateway
- Motorola Voice Gatreway
....Sounds like someone needs programming 101

Correct , the phone does not have the capablity to broswe. only simply transfer. However the computer can fully browse the phone either on a serial USB corded connection port or a virtual USB Bluetooth port. I discussed this in a prior post... ....oh and an aside...

thanks to the post for the info on the 600 being different hardware than the 620, thus not skin capable.

See i learned something ...

lets not be so fast to dispute someone because we do not know or are in error, instead, lets learn from each other... all these "one upped ya" posts... c'on...there was a day when the world was believed to be flat and the moon was made of chesse....

Sorry..ne last Rant..

Thank God The "because I can't do it" or "because I don't know how to do it" THUS IT CAN'T BE DONE approach is not common thinking, because other wise we would never have andvanced in technology or science.

To quote Fred Flinstone, "Pedal faster Wilma, pedal faster".
and to quote Wilma, "Are the brakes on..? Fred quit dragging your feet..."

if you use blue soleil and have a bluetooth usb dongle it's as simple as it can be, i think i paid about $30 for mine but it works perfectly and it's easy to use

What the OP wanted was to be able to browse files on his computer, from his phone. This would require the FTP client profile on the phone, and the FTP server profile on the computer. To browse files on the phone from the computer, you need FTP server on the phone, and FTP client on the computer. The computer has both, but motorola phones only have the FTP server profile. Thats why its possible to browse the phone from the computer, but it'll never be possible (unless, of course, a bluetooth profile is added to the phones firmware) to browse a computer or another phone from a motorola phone.

do other phones other than motorola do it?

Posted by: DJester

Some do, although I don't know what brands do right off the top of my head... Nor am I inclined to look that up

If you want to know if any particular phone would support something like that, check out qualweb.bluetooth.org and see if a particular phone supports FTP Client.
