9100 might be considered a PDA phone which he said he does not want. T-Mobile is coming out with the SDA Smartphone Feb. 19. It's T-Mobile's branded Version of the I-mate SP5m.

If you where in the UK i would suggest buying the spvm5000 for orange or the version of it on o2, (there is a tmobile version on its way!) it uses wondows ce, with wi-fi, bluetooth, sd card slot, 3g compatability, with windows media player! full qwerty keyboard, only availible on pay monthly at the moment but wow what a phone!

i got one an wow!!!! oh wow! it rocks!

You talking about the O2 XDA Executive? It's 3G and all the rest with the top half swiviling round to use the screen as a normal PDA?

the imate jamin is more pda style than the sp5m but is hardly any bigger - just a bigger screen instead of having a number pad. it's slightly wider, same height and thinner. If you want to use the thing with wifi, a smartphone's screen is really really small. check out the pda style ones - they aren't that big

I just bought a T-Mobile SDA; should have bought an MDA as the SDA has no QWERTY keyboard. These two phones both use Windows Mobile 5 and are, like i-Mate, built by HTC/Taiwan for their various customers. Both are about $250 to $300 US, when bought through a cell phone carrier. They are likely to cost more if not purchased through a carrier, but you would have more negotiating clout if you have the phone in-hand and can dictate the terms of your contract with the carrier. In the US, Cingular (now AT&T) calls the MDA their model 8125. I might further suggest you buy an "un-locked," that is, an unbranded phone and then pick your favorite telecom carrier based on your knowledge of coverage, signal strength and customer service. T-Mobile is owned by Deutsche Telecom, and they give me great coverage and service, again in US, Canada and Mexico. The SDA also has Bluetooth and WiFi, works on 850Mhz and the other 3 Sim Card-based GSM bands. It has an added (by me) 512MB mini-SD storage card and may be able to handle a 1 or 2 GB storage card. Great for using its built-in 1.3 MPixel camera. It is therefore worldwide capable, except perhaps in Tibet. It comes with a USB 2.0 charger, a USA 115VAC 60Hz charger and a Bluetooth single-ear headset. In the US, Verizon offers a Cell Phone built into a Compact Flash card, which could be moved from an iPAQ to a laptop, or to whatever. Do lots of spec comparisons and Internet shopping to get the best price, whatever you buy. Good Luck. The journey is half the fun so don't jump into the first deal that comes along.

Haha, I've been around here for 3 years now, I know the game and I know the general idea of it all. I actually agree and hope that wherever I am going for college has good service with T-Mobile because their plans and customer service cannot be beat by the other carriers. I definitely dont want to go CDMA. I was with ATTWS in 2003, T-Mobile in 2004, and Cingular in 2005. I have the choice again about who I want to sign up with, I think Im gonna wait on month to month till I know where I am going to college and till the k790 or N80, or something similar comes around.
