V635I Set-UP Issues

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am trying to set-up my new V635I and have encountered the following problems:
1. I cannot change my name - the currently entry is 'telephone' and there is no way to change it. settings/phone status/my mobile numbers
2. I cannot turn my outgoing caller ID on. settings/in call set-up/my caller id - the only selection that displays is 'next call only'. Even if I select this the caller id is not transmitted on the next call out.

Thank you in advance.

Just wondering..Is it stored on the phone..Because if it's stored in the sim..you won't be able to set the caller ID..

1. When I go to "My Tel. Numbers", I can select "My Mobile #" and edit the name and #. Can you view this on your phone?

2. Who is your carrier? I have ATT/Cingular and requested my # appear as "PRIVATE." To send my #, I prefix dialed numbers with "*82". Try this to see if your # is displayed to your caller.

BTW, if your # doesn't appear in settings/phone status/my mobile #, that might be why there is no outgoing caller ID.

Hope this helps...JL

Mine appears as 'Name: Telephone'. Next line down is 'No: ' and my correct phone #.
On the left is 'back' and the right is blank.
If I click the menu key, 'Copy all text' displays.
I have been using Rogers up here in Canada and have been on their network for many years. However, previously I have been using a TDMA phone.

It appears Rogers has disabled the "Edit" function for the name/number on their V635. As for the outgoing caller ID, I suggest contacting Rogers' CS.

Good luck...JL

Yes, I contacted them re the outgoing caller ID.
It was a mistake on their system. It is now enabled at their end.
However, the phone itself does let me edit the feature.
Rogers is saying dial *whatever to enable/disable the feature and not use the capability of the phone.
