I created an mp3 ringtone for a friend that has the 8100. On my Motorola, I can send an email with attached midi file, and get the "picture" message. When I get the message, I "apply as ringtone", and it is stored on my phone. Is there any way to do this with the 8100, or do you have to use a cable or bluetooth, with bitpim, etc?

u have to have a cable and bitpim or bluetooth. When u email the ringtone to your 8100 it only saves the file in the My Sounds section of the phone and wont give u the option to apply it as a ringtone

what is the point of "My Sounds" if you cant use them for anything.

i honestly have no idea, the my sounds folder is usually just used to store the voice memos that u make on the phone. I find it strange that u cant apply them as ringtones or use them for ur alarms and stuff, i used to be able to do all of that on my old lg vx 6000, i guess verizon wants us all to pay them for ringtones

u r able 2 play sounds that people send in your inbox, but when u save it, it will always be put in my sounds and my sounds will cut it short so u cant hear the whole thing
