Not Able to View WAP Sites on v3

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: digitalslurp

I originally posted this in the Cingular Phone forum but only one person replied and their suggestions didn't work.

Last week I got a razr v3 from cingular and today I noticed I'm not able to view wap sites I was able to view before on my v551. For example on my v551 I can view http://m.gmail.com or wap.howardforums.com without any errors but on my v3 I get a Page Cannot Be Displayed error. Also I noticed I'm able to view wap.yahoo.com and choose the usa option which takes me to wap.oa.yahoo.com but if I go straight to wap.oa.yahoo.com I get an error on the v3 but not the v551. There's also times a site will work, then the next time I try to view the site, I get the above error.

Anyone have any ideas? I haven't unlocked the phone or anything and using the same sim from the v551. I tried searching and found a thread about changing the port to 8080 but that didn't work. I've also tried to resend all the cingular settings to my phone using https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/cli...iguredevice.asp but didn't fix anything.

Thanks for any help.

Use Opera Mini

You can download it from mini.opera.com

Use the built in browser to download. Then setup the settings in your Java Session for your web profile. Allows you to surf practically all sites.

Did you "Flash" or "Flex" the V3???

Does the "Media Net" work when you start up the browser and if so is it the "New" or "Old" Media Net home page??? "New" home page will have your local weather and a news headline at the top. "Old" home page will just have the regular list of things to pick like 1. Whats hot 2.etc......

Nope, didn't flash or flex the phone. When I load the browser the new home page shows.

Thats strange, try to clear your history, cache, and cookies and try to load up gmail and or yahoo again. If that does not work hit reload a few times.......

opera can be found at..

http://mini.oprea.com/my (I think)

Cleared everything and still get an error. I was able to install opera, but not sure how to "setup the settings in your Java Session for your web profile" like 1st_paladin said to do.

Tried to search here but couldn't find anything.

Under the websession. Create a Java Session if you don't already have one. If you have one. Then edit it as follows:

http://my.opera.com/community/forum...c.dml?id=117758

Of course you need to use your service provider settings.

If opera mini is able to access the net without me creating any sessions, am I fine? It asks if it's ok to access 193.69.116.43:80, if I say yes will it use my unlimited media net? Want to make sure Cingular doesn't charge me anything extra.

You do not need to make another "web Session" unless you dont have one for your provider....If you have Unlimited media net with cingular just make sure you are using wap.cingulargprs.com and it should not cost you anything.....I have been using opera since it 1st came out a few months ago and so far no charges. Yes you pick ok to use what 193.69.116.43:80 proxy that opera wants you to use.......

OK then I'm all set. Opera connected right after I installed it, and I already had a wap web session from Cingular. Thanks for your help.

Since opera mini uses a proxy, do I need to worry about someone getting my yahoo login info if I use opera to sign in?
