Ohhh Wal-Mart...

So I had a customer just now who wanted the z520a but realized we don't carry it anymore and was cool with that....however wal-mart is unloading the buggy ones for free.

When a phone gets discontinued/recalled they should be pulled from all channels of distrubution. When they don't we all know it is going to cause more headaches and warrarany exchanges.

But that's the thing, Cingular has more than likely made the money already selling the phones in bulk to Wal-Mart. After that occurs they wouldn't give two shakes what occurs with the actual merchandise defective or not. It'd just be calls into warranty like you said, moreso than what's necessary.

Getting to orange XBM and then getting anything done is like pulling teeth in my experience.

it's not necessarily that Cingular made their money from Walmart, it's how Walmart does their business is why they won't send the phones back.

I would agree with you there... unless there's a recall which forces them to send it back (i.e. defective car seats) or they have arrangements with Cingular, most companies, Wal-Mart included just sell product, and would expect that the factory warranty would cover 'buggy' isues.

Uh, what part of "product recall" does wal mart not understand then?

I think for walmart to send it back as a recall it would have to be associated with safety. software issues they really don't care about.

So, if walmart has defective 51 inch big screens... and the defective portion doesnt put me physically at risk they will continue to sell them?

most likely... unless the manufacturer of the TV is VERY adament that walmart get rid of them. knowing how walmart does business, they'd most likely sell the TV's back to the manufacturer at the price walmart seems appropriate.

You pretty much hit the nail right on the head there. Walmart will never take a bath on a defective product, they'll take it out on the vendor/manufacturer.

yup. it's how walmart can bankrupt a company with a snap of their finger. I knew someone that wanted to put product in walmart and since the walmart employee was his friend he told him how it is.....
