Maybe ask the same question in the Moto forum... |

In any case, it's easy and here's what you do: you just have to set your phone's model number to one that Cingular supports. That information is stored in seem 0117_0001. If you change the info in that seem from V635 to V551, voila! You get the new MEdia Net page. If you want to install java games you bought from MEdia Net (but why would you want to waste your money), you have to install the Cingular security certificates, which I have packaged for everyone's convenience into a ZIP. They get uploaded to the /a/mobile/certs/root/x509/kjava folder. Be sure to set the attrib to '4' after uploading. Of course, if you use mobile phone tools, a V551 will show up as the skin. And your phone will be identified as such in P2Kman. But it doesn't do any harm other than that. |

Thanks for your help again!!! without your map I would hate these motorola phones the way they come stock OEM!!!!! |

Yes, I changed the attributes and verified that they were changed to '70004' for all three certificate files. |

The funny thing I noticed is that the expiration date of the interopera certificate is 7/31/06. So it only has a few months to live!

Some other times I would get the "File not Found" message.
Another thing is that the link they send you in the browser message has a code in the end that expires. If you wait too long (I think 48 hours) then you can't download it and gives you some stupid error message. Always make sure you get a new link from the web site before trying to download it. UPDATE: I uploaded the ROOT_CERTS to my phone and now I have the interopera certificate. Tried to download/install Mobile Email and the same thing happened. It downloaded successfully but it could not install due to "Authorisation Error". Yes, it says "Authorisation" instead of "Authorization" because my flex is European and speaks British. The funny thing I noticed is that the expiration date of the interopera certificate is 7/31/06. So it only has a few months to live! |

Yeah for some reason I'm still unable to D/L the two files....I have not attempted to purchase any other applications from Cingular to see if they are also failing to "Install". Maybe we need to be "Provisioned" by cingular????? I remember seeing somewhere on there site about blocking this feature....... |

I've included the .pat file in here, which I think contains a app-specific security certificate in it. That might be why it crashes so often if you don't install through the Cingular site. |

My 'default' phone is my Nokia 6340i for GAIT access so I can have the ESN in there to get TDMA/analog coverage. I don't know why it works for me and no one else. OK... a thought. And this might be it. I'm a lazy guy. When I upgraded to the V635, I didn't reinstall my java apps because of all the hassle of getting new activation codes for each of the apps I paid for. I just copied the entire kjava folder over from my V551 and it worked just fine. Then I reinstalled the MP3 player, and it still worked after giving it appropriate permissions (in the pat file). Try tossing this file into your kjava directory. Maybe it'll work. It seems to have some Cingular-ish stuff embedded in it. I have a good feeling this is the key. Let me know how it turns out. You will probably be able to download and install direct from MEdia Net this way. |

Not only didn't it work, but when I went to games, Asphault Urban GT showed an e-mail folder to the left of the name in the list and gave a corrupted file error message when I tried to run it. It prompted me to delete the file which I did not. I uninstalled mobileemial.jar and now the joystick icon shows next to the name of the game as before, but when I try to run it, I get a "The application is out date. Verify time and date settings in the initial setup." error message. After installing the certificates, mobileemail.pat, mobileemail.jad, and mobileemail.jar in a/mobile/certs/root/x509/kjava, I get "Authorisation Error" when I go to MEdia Net (Which works perfectly) and try to download Mobile E-mail from Cingular. So..... Question #1:Anyone know how I can make Urban GT run again? Question #2:Where do I install mobileemail.jar on my phone? Question #3: How can I get Mobile E-mail to work on my V3i? Thanks in advance |

When you say "install using backups" you are talking about using midway or some p2k program to transfer Mobile IM to your phone, and not download from Cingular, right? I see you were on motox with the "medianet" thread on the v3i, I assumes you tried the "Websessionproxy" file? thats the only file that I think is unique. I did not change or add that to my v635... ![]() |

some steps may not be needed? But it won't hurt to do them all. set 0117 seem to identify the phone as a v3 (one cingular supports) upload 'cingular branded' root_certs file and set attrib to 4 upload missing 'cingular branded' kjava certs and set attrib to 4 upload 'cingular branded' j2me_domain_registry and set attrib to 4 this should give you an unbraded phone but with access to branded games, ringtones, apps, etc. Thanks to XLR8 and too many others to mention from HOFO for the run down. all of the files are in my folder listed in my sig it would probably help ya if my sig was listed hu! lol http://rapidshare.de/users/8AVBX |

I did however use XVI32 to edit my seem and still pk2man and MPT don't recognize the phone model, though entering the model manually in MPT did work. I'm just wondering why the model doesn't show up after the seem edit. Also I'm assuming that this seem edit is JUST for getting the new Media.Net but not for actually being able to download anything from Cingular as even with the model change and the upload of the Cingular certs I am still told that downloads are unavailable for my model of phone, so I guess you can fool Media.Net but you can't fool Cingular.
