Okay so I currently dont have a card reader or Lightwav/RingoPro etc. But I do have a bit of other resources. I have this kyocera mp3 maker for the treo but im not sure where the ringtones go. I also heard it is possible to send .wav aand .midi ringtones to your phone. I have tmobile and I assume i sent it to mynumber@tmomail.net. But i was just curious if anybody can let me know some extra information becasue when I tried it sometimes it say its unable to get file when i say fetch. or the file is unable to save. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

As far as I know, you must have a memory card and Ringo/any other .midi/.wav/.mp3 program in order to have them as ringtones. Palm did not make those file type associations native out of the box, so no program that came with the phone can play these files. I'm afraid you'll have to cough up some dough for a program (though i'm sure you could find some type of freeware to get the midi's working...but I'm not sure...). I tried to evade paying too, but there just didn't seem like a feasible alternate method that could give you different ringtones without screwing up your phone, which is easy to do with a Treo. If you dont have an unlimited internet plan...e-mailing files could get quite costly (but I'm sure you do). Personally, Ringo is the way to go (download the 7-day trial and put some music on your sd card, and use volumecare to boost your ringtone volume...it's great).

Nope, just edit the part of the song you want (or put the whole song) on your phone by hotsync. If you dont have a song editior (like audacity or something like that) Check out the Treo 650 FAQ for more info. I'm sure not every ringtone you want will be the beginning of a song. If you have a macintosh, use mp3 trimmer...no need to buy it, the trial is all you'll ever need.
