i think im near a mental breakdown

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

all due to wonderful cingular.

everyone in my store, EXCEPT for me, is NEW to their position (Store manager,assist.manager,reps). on top of that, i got probably the most unreliable/laziest/dirtiest co-worker and my assistant managers having a mental breakdown due to personal life issues and work.

ive worked open-close to ensure the store has been running smoothly due to manager being out about 60% of the store so far this month, since the beginning of january. todays my first day off in january.

add all of these things + crap we get from upper management is making me want to just say screw it, i quit.

we got uppermanagement screaming at us because lazy sob of coworker got our stores secreat shop score since i begun workin there.

i made little sense here. in fact, i dont care. i just simply dont care. i think ill show up tomorrow at 10:45am instead of 9:30.

just for the hell of it.

That's OK. Sprint employee's aren't getting their anual raise because it's being given to all nextel employees (the one's we're keeping that it) across the board. N extel store managers are getting "promoted" to Sprint CDMA Store managers.

thats nothing to do with my stress though djdynasty. no offense, but pay raise and the BS i've been dealing with since end of november till now, is adding up.

the crappier part is, i couldnt apply for say, an assistant management for t-mobile since i lack the XP, and theyd probably take over a rep of theirs before taking me.

ive been selling cingular as a sales rep for 4 years now. 1.5 of it with corporate. i was screwed over in the agent side for promotion and frankly, i dont think i have enough to stick with corproate until openings occur to apply for it.

Alfred-- Depending on your market, You may be in a Sprint market that's not on a hireing freeze. The benefits on Sprint are great. Same Sex partner benefits, which is what made me so agressive to getting a position with Sprint.

Sprint hires and promotes people fast. I started a week before christmas, My AM is getting her own store in about a month, I'll be the AM at her store. She's taking me with. But that's because I got rid of a lot of her store managers prior to me joining the company.

yeah, that sounds like a healthy and promotive work environment.

Alfred, take a shot with a T-Mo Direct store. experience doesn't always win out in the sales arena...

going to sprint would be takiing even more of a commission cut. something i cant do.

my breakdown is nothing to do with pay, but how my store is.

put yourself in the mentality of you're working everyday open to close because we got all reps are new guys to this industry cept for one guy and you, but you have to babysit the other guy because hes a dirty slob and lazy.

Alfred, Sprint is less commission, and more salary based because of the ammount of CS you have to do in store. My quota is only 26.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

unless sprint pays me $14/hr and i take home 1,000 in commission, theres no way.

If I was going to work for a another wireless company it would likely be T-Mobile. Selling at T-Mobile would be cake walk with their pricing, and with their lower commissions you would likely make the same since you would be selling more than Cingular. This is assuming your Cingular numbers are lower than usual and the T-Mobile store you would work for is in a good location or well established.

It would be fun to work for a company that has their stuff together.

Not to mention, 850Mhz will be irrevelant down the road, and T-Mobile International will be purchasing lots of new licenses when the FCC auctions off the new wireless blocks.

Selling for verizon is a cakewalk. Quotas are high, but easy to hit. Salary is good and commission are great, and the benefits are amazing.

I looked into tmobile, but they have an absurd chargeback window, and still don't pay as well as verizon does. 12 months on features? No thanks.

well I have one thing to say about this Same Sex partner benefits

I dont get a discount on my service since I have been married(which is what this country was built upon along with lots of other moral values that we hav lost) LEGALY for 12 years! I have an 8yr old that I dont get a discount on my service for, and I dont want to get flamed here but I dont agree with Same Sex partner's regardless of what anyone says.

But on the lines of mental breakdown's go see your local psyc. and he will help ya out with that, valum, lamictil, some kind of anti depressant. Or just look at it this way, lifes too short to have all this. Make a stand and dont work those shifts or quit and get a job that dosent have so much stress! McD's is always hiring.

get off the soapbox; this isn't the place for that.

most employers don't openly identify "same sex", and instead label it "domestic partner" which is more encompassing. i've been married (for factual purpose only: i'm male and she's female) for only 5 months, but before thay i enjoyed the comfort of her insured health via this forward thinking without some silly slip of paper being required.

good for you.now, do you want a cookie?

im all for people having health insurance regardless of their preferences. only thing going wrong these days is the minority of extremist religious people putting their views ahead of everyone else( ala bush and govt). yes, i consider bush an extremist.

now back on topic:

i decided im just gonna take some time off from work via coming in late, leaving early. i have priorities in the fact i just moved part of my stuff and i need to finish moving.

Man, I hated Cingular when I worked there for all the same reasons, so I quit. I love to read about employees complaining because it reinforces my decision. (at least in my mind) Alfred, man quit!! I think I'm finally tired of reading about your complaints. LOL

Posted by: DjDynasty

Ya know Alfred, I love reading your complaints because it doesn't make me feel that Sprint is so bad... Although I just got one hell of a bonus this week. (Free Data Devices, No their not stolen) I think the problem with wireless service in general is we don't get crap for upgrades, and have no incentive to make people want to upgrade. Within 2 weeks working at Sprint I learned how to add additional lines of service to people's account who didn't qualify for those lines because of credit class so they could have their upgrade, and I could get a new activation credit. It's not the most honest thing in the system, and it was shown to me by a co-worker who thought it was "So Cool" granted, I've used that technique to add a 5th line to my account (maxed at 4 lines currently) because I needed to get my money's worth of my family plan. But I don't even have the account in my name anymore, and upon being offered the job, I did a COR on the account. With me no longer using the account, 4 low minute accounts didn't make it worth while to even have. So I found someone rather chatty and made him the 5th line.

I've read rants before about how the system is for indirect dealers encourages churn. Want to upgrade, here, T-Mobile has a great phone, You'll love it, etc etc.

I just wish GSM would start selling the phones unlocked and unbranded, and all MMS/WAP/GPRS/EDGE settings were stored in the sim, not the phone. Might encourage the carriers to be a little more concerned about retention. but if that comes up, it would put all of us out of a job.

my battles at this moment isnt against cingular, per se. its within my own store.

ive been debating about applyin for this new position at a store 30mins away from me.

Posted by: GB1

I know exactly what you mean. You bust your butt, work extra, do everything right, and a new manager comes in and doesn't care what you've done, and it starts over again. It keeps happening time and again. I'm on my 4th boss in two years. My advice is to keep doing everything right, take the money and keep your eyes open. Opportunity comes easier when when you don't lower yourself and remember...your bank will cash a paycheck no matter who's logo is on it.
Good Luck!

Posted by: thejlw

Reading this really makes me want to work at Cingular...errr not.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

i think i found some peace. i concluded that since the other reps are on ramp up until may, ill simply use that to my advantage

sure stress is high, but who wouldnt like a 3,500-4,000 commission check?
