New V360 - Blue Static on screen?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My V360 was only a few weeks old when the screen started to display this blue fuzz, or static, that would outline images and applications on the screen. The static would shake--sort of vibrate--making it hard to read the screen. In fact, the entire screen itself looked like the colors were washed out into a blue hue.

I haven't modded the V360 much aside from a new CL.gif and erasing some of the TMob sounds. When I brought it back to the TMob shop where I purchased it from, they just gave me a new one, even though I lost the receipt. No questions asked. That made me a little worried.

Is anyone else having this smae problem? I probably should have spent the extra money on the T809.

On another note,,,,,does anyone know if the samsung D820 is the same phone as the T809?

I owned that phone for a few days and didn't have that problem. Its supposed to be a pretty good phone.

I had mine since December and no problems. You said you did no changes but you did change a gif file and deleting ringtones (I am not sure if it they are locked or not) and that may be the reason. You may have did something wrong. You may try to backing it up totally and then change stuff, I am not going to mess with modding since I am not an expert.

I have had mine sinc Dec and have had no problems infact it is the best phone I have owned. You probably screwed it up when you modded it.

Erasing the factory sounds was done through the phone OS, not through seem edit modding. You can scroll down the listing of sounds on the phone itself, and erase the ones you don't want (even though the little lock icons sits next to the name). I thought this was kinda odd because you could not do this in my old V300.

As for the CL.gif, this is just an image file with no scripting properties or hidden functionality. The file that I replaced it with was exactly the same file size and pixel size, and was the same render format. This was not changed in a true modding sense, because it did not require a seem edit or flex of any sort. Just a simple file swap.

I highly doubt that I screwed up, because the screen issue happened over a week after changing these files. I didn't touch the actual operating system files, and I backed everything up anyway (which didn't fix the issue).

I am not going to say that it wasn't my fault, but this phone has been quirky since the get-go. The new replacement one has issues of its own. The casing feels jagged in around the seems, and the flip makes a slight cracking noise when opening and shutting. The headset connector intermittedly disconnects, forcing the sound to the external speaker. And the J2ME MP3 player doesn't always "wake up" after opening the unit while its playing (and I didn't touch anything on this one's file system).

All in all, I think that this phone's music functionality was an afterthought. The J2ME MP3 player could easily be added to any Motorola phone that can use Java Apps, meaning that it was not developed specifically for the V360. The other sound player works much better than the J2ME one (it loads faster, it can be hidden so you can use other phone functions, you can fast-forward music, there is a progress bar,and the sound quality is the same) but the volume buttons don't work when the flip is closed and it doesn't look as good. It would be almost perfect if the MP3 player was integrated into the OS, and not a loading App.

Oh well, going to get a SE phone now.

Take it back and exchange it.

Yeah, plus the MP3 player doesn't recognize all the songs I put on it. I'd rip a CD using WMP into MP3 format at 128kps and it would recognize all but 2 or 3 songs, always random. really annoying. One of the reasons I took it back

I don't have that problem, I get all of my songs. But I use Musicmatch to save it in 128kps, if that makes a difference.
