Finally found a way to change the SLVR L7 PTT smart key function

hey guys, i upgraded my slvr l7 to the new dcr firmware, but the left smart key is now locked as a PTT button, i tried everyway or editing it, and took a look at the 005b_0001 offset 15, and it doesn't matter what i change it to, the ptt button is forced as ptt no matter what. So i'm guessing for some reason in the new firmware, the left softkey is now at a different offset, i want to compare with someone using the DAR firmware, please send me a the 005b_0001 from DAR to jonp(at)shaw.ca please or post it on here.

GOOD NEWS, i found a way to finally unlock the left soft key from being forced as a PTT button.

first, seem edit to allow changing of the smart key function:
seem 0032_0001: offset 0C bit 1: Menu: Smart Key (1 on)

then after that upload this 005b_0001

then after you will be able to change the smart key function.

also, the new 005b_0001 will set your right key to be voicedial, i know some people will not like this and will wanna customize it, so heres how to edit the right key:

- download P2KMenuEditor_v23.rar
- open P2KMenuEditor.exe
- make sure on the bottom left, it says "connected"
- click on Tools->Phone key mapping
- click on Open Seem -> Open from Phone
- click on the right key and change to a desired key value
- click Save Seem - Save to phone

also since you are using my 005b_0001, it will unlock the left smart key also, so you can edit to a desired value also and it will work, as long as you have my 005b_0001 uploaded.

cool, but that list of values seems short. there's no option to open the camera. (?)

is there another way to assign the camera to the right side key?

its possible, you need to use a hex editor like xvi32 and edit 005b_0001 manually, i'll post details soon.

do u have a backup of the seem before you assigned the right side key (to voice dial)? but still with the smart key unlocked?

Anyone know the XVI32 hex editor edits to get the dashes in phone #'s and auto date/time? I tried in p2kadvanced editor, but it didn't upload any of my changes to the phone. While I'm at it I wouldn't mind the hex edit for the keypad lite to not go out until the display does, but again the only way I can do this is with the hex editor and p2kman, so I need the exact hex code instructions.

cky3396, try this, should set your right key to camera 005b_0001

xgman, for dashes in your phone number, edit seem 004a_0001, offset 80 and change the actual value to 00

for auto update option, edit seem 0032_0001, offset 00 and set bit 0 to on.

I've tried your 005b_0001 to set my L7's right key to camera instead of voicedial without success. I got the phone connected, P2KME running, open SEEM from phone, clicked the right key, voicedial was an option but not the camera. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for help!

So if I install this I wont be able to change my soft keys then but my smart key can be changed? I want the smart key to be bluetooth connection, the left soft key to be settings and the right soft key to messages. Thanks
