Will I Be Redlined if I Quit?

I work in customer service and found me another job but they want me to start on Feb 1st. I would like to keep my options open to maybe returning to Cingular in the systems analyst parameter. Will I not be able to return because I haven't given them two weeks notice? A manager friend of mine told me that the PeopleSoft hr portal monitors this and willblock any attempt of re-hire. Is this correct, and if it is, is there a way around it.

Thanks.

Thanks.

She told us during the business practices training that she refuses always disputes unemployment claims . She even became confrontational with a classmate of mine which tried to explain that she missed a few days because she nearly had a miscarriage. She stated you miss, you are gone!

I cant say this for all, but knowing someone well in HR, I was told this.

Leaving Cingular doesnt automatically cancel you out for re-hire, but most importantly the fashion that you leave and why you left

Im assuming if you gave 2 weeks which would be professional and perhaps stated your reason of leaving was for higher title/career opportunity.. that would be understandable

But if you decided to come back under 6 months or so, expect to back up your claims. Dont be telling your mgr that you got a MGR position, and then try coming back to cingular .. they will know.

Good luck

I just graduated from college in December. I fill that they don't mind letting you go in a second's moment and the whole mandatory overtime during the holidays make me want to create a scene while leaving like so many have, but the posibility to help deevelop the universal billing system intrigues me. I am better leaving and coming back because union rules does not allow promotions vertical or horizontal before a year of service.

What do you mean by this?

I'm not sure of all call centers, but my call center is unionized and they have negotiated policies with upper mgmt which states except under extreme means to facilitate the needs of the business, an employee cannot change position without one year of service.

Also I gave my one weeks notice this morning, my manager was shocked. Maybe he was trying to remember my name

Most employees are (not by choice) part of Communications Workers of America.

I'd show you my union card from when I worked there, but I burned it in a bonfire.

exactly, i don't pay any dues but become a member when hired. Several of my classmates regret signing up and paying their dues. The benefit is that if you get in trouble, ie customer abuse or adherance, they can watch out for your best interest.

Give your two weeks, dont say anything that you would consider rude professionaly, you really dont ever want to burn any bridges at any job, due to the fact that if push came to shove I would rather go back to a job that I know that they will take me back and I know what im getting into vs the unemployment line and risk loosing things because I cant pay them.
