I am finally giving in and getting myself a Sidekick II, but I have a few questions first to see what kind of headache I may be getting myself into. lol

1.) In regards to this thread... http://howardforums.com/showthread....ghlight=ringers, how would someone go about getting a developers kit for the SKII?

2.) Is there a way to add ring tones to the phone via web or email? If so, which format does the audio need to be?

Thank you in advance for your help!

1) you have to develop software for the sidekick. danger does not just give out the kits.

2) you can import music via EMAIL in amr format but it can not be your ringtone.

Thank you for the quick response.

It's not a problem to develop software for the device. I've done software development for the BlackBerry before, and just noticed they use Java on the SKII device as well, so that won't be a problem.

actually, the developer KIT (ie, the SDK) is free to download. check out developer.danger.com. The actual "key" to allow you to load your applications on the device is a little tougher to get - you have to upload an example app to show you're capable of developing for the platform. if you've ever written Java before the sample app should be a snap to write. It's not rocket science. Feel free to post any questions on the developer forums there and we'll be happy to help.

adding your own ringtones is generally not supported - the catalog provides a pay-to-play download catalog. However, if you're a developer for the device you can load tones to the device as part of your ability to load and test content.
