Unlocked V3 won't see Argentine Movistar SIM

I bought an unlocked Pink v3 for my GF in Buenos Aires. I suspect it was from Africa or Middle East. I tested my Cingular sim card in it, and it worked fine for GSM although I would have had to reconfigure for web/gprs. So, I sent it to her, and she plugged her prepaid Movistar SIM card into it, and it won't recognize the SIM. She has Movistar Digital service. Any reason ?

Hello,Probably Movistar SIM card is not compatible with the V3.You might want to send her a dif.SIM card.I.E. Att or cingular,you can buy them on ebay cheap.I was down there on las august Iused my v551.It worked fine.They both ( V3/V551) use the same SIM card. Hope this helps.
