I will post a very detailed review and comparison in the near future. but some quick first impressions. as you can see, no automatic caps at the beginning of sentences like the sidekick.

the size of the qtek 9100 is lovely and the keys feel elegant. more low effort than the sk's keys but not necessarily as low error. of course just getting used to it

initially disappointed with EDGE speed. I will report further as I use it. it took a long, long time to set up wifi..... as a Mac user who's used to having everything done for him, it was a bit of effort. under wifi it's a nice experience. much more stylus dependant than I had hoped but maybe i'll learn some shortcuts.

size and weight are very nice and screen is bright.

agreed with the posts who want the d pad to move you a whole page rather than a single link on the browser.

more observations as I observe them.

wow... this is what i was waiting for. im looking very forward to your review. i was hoping for a cingular phone that was similar to the sidekick and i wanted the wizard. it was too much for me to shell out. so ill read the review and make my desicion accordingly

well, I'm a pretty big sk fan... simplicity i s something I think we tend to overlook sometime with whiz bang devices.

definitely feels lighter in the hand than the sk. on the other hand the sk feels a little more bulletproof. like a hummer w the extra bulk around the keyboard and screen.

nice blue backlighting on the Qtek screen.

How is the Wizard for IM? What, if any, IM app are you using

had a customer in the other day with a qteck version of this, looking for WAP settings for it. looked at HoFo, and found 'em right away!

thought it was a VERY impressive device, at least initially. Awesome screen, NICE big keyboard, and relatively small.

I use agilemessenger for IMs (they say you have to pay but I haven't paid nothing since using it). This pocketpc is definately not a mobile IM device. You need to be connected to GPRS/EDGE in order to be online, if you get a call you get disconnected and then have to reconnect to AIM/Yahoo/MSN/etc. If you lose reception you get disconnected and have to reconnect to GPRS/EDGE and then reconnect to AIM/Yahoo/MSN/etc. As for the SK2 it uses the danger proxy to keep users connected so they don't constantly disconnect/reconnect. But if you just want to occasionally chat online and don't really need it as a priority app, IMing is fine.

BTW, you should have posted this in the PocketPC section as I don't see how this is related to the Cingular Phones section. If anything maybe the 8125 thread.
