P800 FW R1C Myth or Reality?

Rumors have been going around in several forums regarding the availability of a R1C firmware upgrade for the P800. Does anyone actually have FW R1C installed on their operational P800? Can anyone actually confirm the legitimacy or illegitimacy of R1C?

According to Geovass aka John74, he would have his P800 operational and capable of proving it was installed yesterday, Jan. 2, 2003. Today should be the big day we get a photo of it on his phone???

As for people I know, I spoke with LvWireless Tuesday and he had just looked for any upgrades on the server everyone world wide uses and he said it is not available at this time.... I assume his credibility is good enough for most people on this forum.

From what I've gathered, trolling around other forums, what people are saying is R1C *isn't* the firmware itself, but the revision number of the PDA functions (It's the last of the 3 items that gets output when you show your firmware revision screen). If that's the case, then it's not a newer firmware; they're just not referencing the same part of the firmware that you guys are (someone even said as much on mysymbian.com, I believe).
Hopefully that's what it is.

I have decide not to continue any argument you or anyone else regarding the Fw upgrade.
I was yesterd in SE Central in Greece, and i got my phone updated with R1C....

I have also checked on the EmmaII server, and i could see the R1C..

LvWireless must have a husp parallel key (in order to perform f/w upgrades) which has some SE security rights.... Maybe they are not allowed to see this upgrade yet, cause there is nothing changed for the US customers.

I have nothing to prove to you Bengalboy or to anyone else. If you beleive me fine, if you dont .....to bad !
My phone is back and working....

because there are 3 files loaded when upgrading a p800 you see 3 diff versions r1c is the browser file r1b is the pda file and r1b is the phone file, but as a whole on emma it is listed as r1c. there are 3 language packs avail, english, italian\english, and english\swedish.robb

Even if John74 has R1C...WHO CARES! My R1b has performed flawlessly since LV upgraded it. I cant think of any reason I would want to upgrade the phone now

Isnt that cool. im the first to get everything so please wait while i play with my T68i replacement, its called the T69i. The 69 i hear was named after my *** site. It was the closest number they could get to desrcibe it

Well, the total time of the update is download + flashing = update. If the download takes that long and if they use a serial instead of the newer USB flashing cables, it could very well be an hour

I read about a PDA R1F in some forums but it seems to turn out as a scam. So the latest still is Phone R1B, BT R2C, PDA R1C02.

R1F was a typo on Esato (it wasn't me, honest). The F and the C are very closely placed on the keyboard.

I don't have anything against 12y/o but I have to agree that responsibility is key to communicating effectively on the forums.

When I wanted to update my phone in the Netherlands from R1B to R1C, to computer at the service point said that it was uploading R1C, but when it was ready, it still had R1B, so I don't think it out yet..I just think the R1c was the oraganiser software, because that is calles R1c in my phone, even before "the upgrade". the phone is R1B, BT is R2C and CDA is R1B...

And before someone tries to say I am being culturally egocentric, remember that Geovass aka John74 shouted from the roof tops how we Americans have to be first or believe we are more important than the rest of the world. That is simply untrue, but we don't enjoy having our intelligence insulted, teased and lied to in order to satisfy someone's desire to feel superior. Having said that, I am confident that this is one person with many identities on this forum and not a accurate representative of the Greek people. Look, even if i upload pictures of my P800 with the R1C fw to this forum, you will again not beleive me.... Bengalboy is very "Confident" that i am john74, so why bother any more....?

The point is just ONE. R1C will be released in Greece along with the P800.
My "Insider" did upgrade mine before its been generaly released to the public to RC1 on the 20th of December...

Does the upgrade of firmware set ur p800 setting to default and lose all the additional things that you have downloaded, or everything will be restored back once the upgrade is completed?

Everything is back to default.... You need to restore your lates backup, and then its fine....

With R1C, it asks you what language you want to install. The R1C003 that i have only have 2 languages. Greek and English.
If you install English from the beggining then you lose Greek. If you install Greek, (all the Interface is Greek), then you have the option from the Control Panel to change to English...

Well, this site contains the latest firmware version for all Ericsson & Sony Ericsson phones, and P800 does have R1C firmware though.

Actually, what you speak of is called R1c but when installed on the phone still lists R1B as the phone software. Geovass said that is what was displayed on his phone, R1C, which is not true. You people need to get your facts straight and read the thread completely before making idiots of yourself instead. I will apologize to anyone who can show a photo of a P800 with R1C listed as the firmware for the phone within the next 5 days, otherwise, I stand by my position. And Caff, I am surprised at you, you seem to be up on most of the forums about the P800, you need to read closer before posting something that has already been discussed and explained by Robb who has a little more expertise than either of us with regard to firmware upgrades.

As for Alfonso & CBR1100, you need to read the thread before trying to be cute and displaying your lack of intelligence...

Also, being a member for more than a month or a couple days might help, Portugal? Greece? are ya'll cousins?

Well Jeff it's funny that this happened today as I had a hearing with one of Motorola's lawyers on a little case I have against them and I guess I'm a touch sensitive about people BSing me about cell phones when they don't know anymore than how to dial one. As for being wrong, it is possible and would not be the first time. If so, I did my research with LvWirless before taking a firm stand on my position and therefore I would be relying on an expert about the existance of it. Robb later confirmed what LvWireless had already told me and so I did not just pull something out of the stars and say it was so. The Greek guy found this little tidbit on the internet, claimed he had it installed on his phone to appear superior, and then when he found out it did not exist, has made excuses for not posting a picture of his phone's system info.

Anyway, someone post a photo, and I'll eat it while it is still hot, but I'm not very worried.

Yes I will Lost Texan, win or lose.. I can tell you this, the attorney for Motorola has already talked about a tenative settlement of a figure I gave of $2500 if I would agree to a non-disclosure and confidentiality clause. Specifically he brought up the fact that Motorola did not want me discussing the case anymore on the internet. Obviously, I did not and told him that the in house attorney David Carroll could chunk that dream because it will never happen. I guess the thread of his last letter to Howard has gotten him a little upset about Motorola being bashed on this forum. I kid you not, Motorola is very aware of this website now and willing to pay in order to censor criticism of their business practices on here. I had not shared this before today because I thought I might get a more reasonable relationship going with their counsel, but today proves that they just want to play games. Anyway, if you should work for Motorola or if someone out there reads this who does, tell David he can cut his losses and take the criticism or risk losing more. If I lose, I got REAL THICK SKIN!

The absolute worst area of law practice for me personally! She's a stronger person than me. I do divorce work from time to time, but as my PI practice has gotten better, I quote retainers for contested divorces that I know no one will pay. If it is a custody battle, it brings out the very worst in human nature and the client's call you constantly, like your friends, their psychologist, etc. But I am sure you know that already? I wish her the best and hope she gets alot of personal satisfaction from it, but I have never been able to find it with the exception of a few cases. Usually I just get death threats from spouses or complaints from disgruntled clients. Nobody ever really gets what they want in domestic cases.

Back to phones, Jalal sent me the commercial software, thanks Jalal, and I am still trying to get it to synch. I called Sony/Ericsson today and got nowhere with support. "That phone is not released and we can't help" finally, I got a promise someone with Windows and software expertise is going to call me and help tomorrow. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no luck! The software simply will not recognize the phone. I really want this thing up and running so I can start exploiting the power of it for my business uses.

What version of Windows are you running?? I remember having the SAME problem with the software not recognizing the phone. I installed the Windows ME drivers included with the P800 Metrowerks CD and it was smooth sailing thereafter.

She is beginning to really, really, hate for the reasons you mention -- as well as she, unfortunatly, has to live it with me, as I have a very angry (and not too smart) ex living in the UK with my 2 kids, and the situations that have arisen are unbelievable ... I guess it's par for marrying a beautiful, younger woman, even way after the divorce. My wife now wants to maybe do Trust work or PI.

As far as the sync, what are the problems you have come up with? I had a lot of problems at first, and I personally went though a lot of troubleshooting, and cleaned up a lot of things, and now, it works like a charm. I PM'd you about it.

WoeDee, I am running XP home edition at the office. I also tried changing the compatability within XP to win2000, still no luck. When I open the phone synch software, it does not recognize I am connected to any com port. I have tried everything, I need someone with more skills than I possess for help with this issue.

A lttle OT, but are all the P800 owners who run WinXP having problems with the sync software or Just Mark?

I too am a lawyer, and want to use the P800 as a replacement for phone and pda, so not syncing with WinXP would be a bit a show-stopper for me.

you with the problems: what is the problem exactly? at first my winxp pc wouldn't install a driver for the phone/cradle... it just found an "usb device" when i plugged it in... but wouldn't find drivers on cd (even in the drivers dir)... then i plugged it in my dads pc... detected it there flawlessly... then i thought my xp was ****ed... but then when i plugged the cradle into my own xp pc afterwards it magically detected it.... dunno if this is just a spooky case... but perhaps it'll help you...
