Problems connecting Bluetooth to e815

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just purchased the 3815 from Bell Mobility.

I purchased Motorola Phone Tools on ebay for my e815. It installed and even updated itself after installation.

I am able to pair the cellphone to the PC using Bluetooth, the phone shows up in the bluetooth devices list and the phone prompts me to enter the passkey.

When I try to connect using Phonetools, it finds the phone. It displays the random passkey, but the phone never prompts me to enter it. After a bit it displays a 'unable to pair device' error and that's it.

Is there something I should or should not be doing? Is it possible there are different versions of phonetools? If so, can I use some other software like futuredial to connect?
TIA!

What exactly are you trying to do?

What I'm trying to do is synchronize my Outlook calendar and contact list with the e815. To do that, I thought my best option would be to use Mobile Phonetools.

Does that help?

You don't necessarily need phonetools.
The software that came with your PC's BT dongle should do it.
Right click the BT icon in the taskbar, and make sure (advanced options?) the PIM profile is active, and you can (temporarily) set it non-secure (so no password is req).
You should then be able to do PIM synch from the right click menu as well (depending on which BT dongle you have on the PC).

Which BT dongle are you using?

I've tried it with my T41 notebook onboard BT.

I also purchased a dlink dbt-120 adapter and tried that on my desktop. Same results.

Are you using the windows bluetooth drivers or another one?

Also what version of MPT do you have? I believe the version that works best is 3.25b...

I have a Kingston BT dongle. Came with Widcom 1.4.2 buld 10. Works flawlessly.
I also have MPT 3.11 deluxe, but never use it.

I've tried using the Windows driver, and also the drivers that came with the BT device. Doesn't seem to make a difference either way.

I'm using 4.x of MPT. I don't have version 3.25b, but I would love to be able to try it. It's not the end of the world, but I did pay the extra cash so I could use bluetooth.

Which dongle would you recommend?
