so if iI have service thru Suncom I can send and save ringtones and pictures to my sk2 via email?

Yes, your email will allow you to store ringtones and images.

You must have a Suncom hiptop on Suncom service. The ringtone restriction is in the device, not the service. You cant activate a T-Mo SK2 on suncom service and likewise cant activate a Suncom hiptop on t-mo.
