Making Ringtones with Adobe Audition 1.5 tutorial

this is a baby step tutorial with pics so that theres as little confusion as possible. i used an old song for the hell of it. (D12-How Come)
Before I start with the steps, it probly goes without sayin that you should play the song in a media player like WMP to get the approximate range that you want to use in your ringtone. You'll get more accurate with the time when making the ringtone. Anyways, here goes.
1. Locate and open the song you want to use. (file>open)

2. Highlight the section of the song you want to use. Personally I prefer to type in the range at the bottom right (as highlighted) and keep adjusting & playing it until it sounds right but if you like you can slide the yellow handles that are shown. Once your done just right-click on the highlighted section and hit copy.

3. Now that you've got the section copied, go to file>new, and start a new project with the settings shown in the picture below.

4. Now go to "edit>paste" to paste the section into your new project. (seems stupid but as I said before this is a baby step-by-step tutorial)

5. This is the ONLY point at which the tutorial gets a little difficult. After pasting the section, locate the "EFFECTS" tab towards the top left, then go to "amplitude>amplify/fade". This is where you adjust the volume of the song. I would recommend playing with the 3dB boost and 3dB cut until the volume of the highest point of the song is ABOUT where I drew the line. If you get much higher then that then the song starts to sound ****** through the speaker. Its really just trial and error. Playing the song each time. Takes a minute or two but you'll learn.

6. Nearing the end... Once this is all done just go to "file>save as" and make sure u save as a WAV. BANGO. Your ringtone is done,

enjoy. sorry if it seems like a lot but it really isnt. i figured i put up this tutorial because ive never seen anyone say that they use this program for tunes when in fact it seems pretty easy (least for me).

Nice, but I've already made one long time ago...

But it's buired a few pages back.
Yours looks good. My only suggestion is instead of changing the volume by the Amplify tab, you should use the Normalize function intead. Normalize all ringtones to -6dB (even less sometimes, depending on the song). Your "redline" in your pics is around -4dB, which IMO is way to loud. Anything louder than -6dB will sound like crap on the phone and possible even blow the speaker.
And instead of Copy on your first pic, just use Copy to New function and it will open the highlighted selection in a new window automatically.

Yeah I wrote one a long time ago. Yours is more in depth simply because of the pics. Nice job though!
Here is mine.
