On the i870...
Question 1:
Can I connect to my phone via bluetooth using a PDA for example and surf the net using the phone (that has a data plan) as a "modem" (not dial up)?
Queation 2:
If I enable NMEA OUT on GPS (GPS screen, Trimble...), can I connect to the phone using Bluetooth to allow the PDA to get its location in Streets & Trips or the like...?
I have tried both and have not found any successful way to do either. I can connect to the phone, but then just watch as they (Phone, PDA) sit there and do nothing, lol.

In Trimble the NMEA setting reduces the filtering that Motorola puts on the standard GPS output - it does not send NMEA out the data port. However, you can go into the phone settings (outside Trimble) and send NMEA out the data port and drive streets and trips. Don't know if you can do it via Bluetooth though on the i870

You guys make mention to the serial cable for the i870.. I have a USB cable, and it works for programming the phone, using it as a modem etc. I have enabled the nmea output on the phone, and slowed the com port it is using (com 9) down to 4800 bps (a suggestion from streets and trips). I can get a fix on the phone's display, but get an error with streets and trips. It does not detect a GPS receiver. Will it not work with the USB data cable? Can someone point me in the right direction. Have to take a trip in the morning, and would prefer to use streets and trips on the laptop in the car but can't get the GPS to work. Also tried with my ic502 which is a lost cause as it doesn't put the data out anywhere, but did get mobile gmaps working on it... so worst case I can just use that phone... Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a driver that I'm missing besides the IDEN modem driver?
thanks for any suggestions...
